Great city! Easy to walk around.
Great city! Easy to walk around. I enjoyed interacting with the indigenous people and seeing their brightly colored clothing. Very easy to book all kinds of trips and services when you land in the city. Lots of options for all levels of eating.Guest review byKimberlyUnited States - Review score6.0
World Citizen Mega World Traveler Eddie Sparks
World Citizen Mega World Traveler Eddie Sparks Peru's a funny place. When television was invented, mysterious Nazca lines appeared in a desert. Miraculously the president also ordered a giant resort to be built on this mountain but was never/perfectly finished. That made TV too. The walk from Hidroelectrico is funner than most but it is a bunch of railroad ties, rocks and semi-perilous railway river crossing. Not impossible. The mountains and rivers are beautiful. If you do walk, I would suggest paying for the bus for less time on your feet. I've walked down before, it takes 90 minutes. Its a huge investment that you may appreciate more in photos while spending your money on huacachina desert dune rides for the day instead. People like the wonder of Machu but who knows, its a 3 day investment of your life. Maybe a flight to Iguazu Brazil Side would be more romantic maybe not.Guest review byEdVenezuela - Review score8.0
Quaint small town with rich cultural heritage.
Quaint small town with rich cultural heritage. It is a great stop over before going to Machu Picchu as the train ride is very convenient. The only problem is that lots of restaurants are closed so finding these places to eat in Google doesn't help. Also most closes by 10pm.Guest review byMaePhilippines - Review score8.0

Central location for exploring up and down the valley, with good bus connections. It's a real Peruvian town, not a touristy place, like many of the other towns around. I had a good meal in town. Everyone was friendly.Guest review byTimothyPortugal - Review score8.0
Pisac is a must for the Incan ruins.
Pisac is a must for the Incan ruins. They are vast and well-maintained. The views of the valley are amazing. Take a taxi up to the top and hike down. The town itself is a bit unusual. It's got a hippie vibe. Eco blended with wellness and expats. it's very different than other towns we visited. It's also a very sleepy town. Nothing opens before 8:00, even the coffee shops, and many places open at 10:00. The restaurants aren't open that late either.Guest review byinteractive3United States - Review score10.0

I came to Cusco searching for my own ancestral roots and I think I got it well. It is a very beautiful city full of ancestral sites, where you can explore practically wherever. The people are really nice, open, welcoming, simple. The city is rather safe, easy to navigate, especially I enjoyed a lot the Historical Centre. You can find information everywhere. The food is wonderful. Just I think Peru is very expensive for tourism.Guest review byAlbeiror24Cambodia - Review score8.0
Bus transportation up to Machu Picchu was very efficient.
Bus transportation up to Machu Picchu was very efficient. Although the line we waited in to get on the bus was extremely long, the line moved very quickly and our wait time was about 15 to 20 minutes. No wait to get bus leaving Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu was very crowded. We did circuit 1 and 2 which mostly goes above Machu Picchu and had great views of Machu Picchu and surrounding mountains. If we had more time to spend in Agua Calientes, we would have liked to do some of the surrounding hikes.Guest review byBradleyUnited States - Review score10.0

Urabamba is a wonderful local feeling town with a nice square where you can find very good restaurants. There is a Saturday vendor market around the square and a big fresh market every day only a few blocks from the ,main square. Easy to navigate. I ate at Forty, Big A and Migas. All amazing food.Guest review byChristinaUnited States - Review score8.0
The ruins were expansive and high up.
The ruins were expansive and high up. The 1.5 hour hike down from the ruins was one of the highlights of our trip. We ate at a Pizza place recommended by the hotel. It was great. Did not see a lot of other restaurant options. The town has some cool narrow cobble stone alleys and a nice plaza. We took a collectivo to Cusco on our way out of town. A great, cheap way to travel. Were looking for one up to the ruins but did not find one because we were at the wrong end of the bridge over the river. You need to walk across the bridge to catch the collectivos. One night in town was about right. Ended up in a slightly more expensive taxi for the ride up to the ruins. Would not recommend hiking up to the ruins, only down!Guest review byMaryEllenUnited States
