Just 8 minutes drive from the Velasco Astete Airport, the Sonesta Hotel Cusco is less than 1 km from the city centre. All rooms feature a mountain or city view.

You can’t get any better breakfast than this, it was amazing. We liked everything about the property especially the location, the view and helpful staff. There could be slight improvement made on the AC system but not a huge issue.

The Antigua Casona San Blas is a family-owned and operated boutique hotel in the historic center of Cusco with 50 rooms.

Beautiful and quaint boutique hotel. Loved all the native art and textiles on the wall all around the hotel. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast and the restaurant food was some of the best we found in Cusco 10/10. The SPA was excellent too and reasonably priced. I will come again

Located in Cusco and with Wanchaq Train station reachable within 3 km, Nao Victoria Hostel provides concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a restaurant, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar.

I booked 4 nights in a private room and it was excellent. The bed was probably the biggest bed I’ve ever slept in (with 5 pillows!) and was very comfortable. The room was spacious, the shower was hot and it was far from the main door and street so was quiet. Only two downsides - the room has no windows and is directly onto one of the common areas (this posed no problems though) so I couldn’t have the curtains open at all so no natural light. WiFi was good! The breakfast included is very good - buffet style, with eggs, breads, cheese, meats, cereals, tea, coffee, juice, fruit etc. Eat as much as you like! Staff were very friendly. Location excellent. Laundry service quick. I’d have stayed longer but the price for the private room only really allows for a few nights stay - little overpriced by maybe £10 (50 soles) per night.

Very quaint but with huge rooms. Very fluffy quilts which was nice in the cold, and I had an oil heater to take the chill off in the evenings. Breakfasts were amazing and all the staff are lovely.

World Citizen Mega World Traveler Eddie Sparks

World Citizen Mega World Traveler Eddie Sparks Peru's a funny place. When television was invented, mysterious Nazca lines appeared in a desert. Miraculously the president also ordered a giant resort to be built on this mountain but was never/perfectly finished. That made TV too. The walk from Hidroelectrico is funner than most but it is a bunch of railroad ties, rocks and semi-perilous railway river crossing. Not impossible. The mountains and rivers are beautiful. If you do walk, I would suggest paying for the bus for less time on your feet. I've walked down before, it takes 90 minutes. Its a huge investment that you may appreciate more in photos while spending your money on huacachina desert dune rides for the day instead. People like the wonder of Machu but who knows, its a 3 day investment of your life. Maybe a flight to Iguazu Brazil Side would be more romantic maybe not.

Quaint small town with rich cultural heritage. It is a great stop over before going to Machu Picchu as the train ride is very convenient. The only problem is that lots of restaurants are closed so finding these places to eat in Google doesn't help. Also most closes by 10pm.

Pisac is a must for the Incan ruins.

Pisac is a must for the Incan ruins. They are vast and well-maintained. The views of the valley are amazing. Take a taxi up to the top and hike down. The town itself is a bit unusual. It's got a hippie vibe. Eco blended with wellness and expats. it's very different than other towns we visited. It's also a very sleepy town. Nothing opens before 8:00, even the coffee shops, and many places open at 10:00. The restaurants aren't open that late either.

I came to Cusco searching for my own ancestral roots and I think I got it well. It is a very beautiful city full of ancestral sites, where you can explore practically wherever. The people are really nice, open, welcoming, simple. The city is rather safe, easy to navigate, especially I enjoyed a lot the Historical Centre. You can find information everywhere. The food is wonderful. Just I think Peru is very expensive for tourism.

Bus transportation up to Machu Picchu was very efficient.

Bus transportation up to Machu Picchu was very efficient. Although the line we waited in to get on the bus was extremely long, the line moved very quickly and our wait time was about 15 to 20 minutes. No wait to get bus leaving Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu was very crowded. We did circuit 1 and 2 which mostly goes above Machu Picchu and had great views of Machu Picchu and surrounding mountains. If we had more time to spend in Agua Calientes, we would have liked to do some of the surrounding hikes.

The ruins were expansive and high up.

The ruins were expansive and high up. The 1.5 hour hike down from the ruins was one of the highlights of our trip. We ate at a Pizza place recommended by the hotel. It was great. Did not see a lot of other restaurant options. The town has some cool narrow cobble stone alleys and a nice plaza. We took a collectivo to Cusco on our way out of town. A great, cheap way to travel. Were looking for one up to the ruins but did not find one because we were at the wrong end of the bridge over the river. You need to walk across the bridge to catch the collectivos. One night in town was about right. Ended up in a slightly more expensive taxi for the ride up to the ruins. Would not recommend hiking up to the ruins, only down!
