Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing.
Super welcoming, friendly and helpful staff and fabulous atmosphere in the hostel. Comfortable beds and good shower. One of the better breakfasts we had in Argentina.

GermanyMy room only had one power point. I only got shown one toilet, so assume that's the only one for the hostel. There were mixed showers, but not a lot of privacy. My room door was broken. No locker in room.
Good breakfast with pastries, fruit, bread and some spreads. Great central location and friendly owner.

BrazilThere was just one power plug for all my room, so it was a nightmare to charge the phone- in the common areas there was always people charging their phones. There was no soap in the toilets to wash your hands. The upper bunk bed is terrible , you can't seat on it since it's very close to the roof. I asked the manager to stay in the lower bed (the two were empty when I arrived and he said that were reserved - I don't know how, since I aked them in advance here on booking and the answer was clear that we choose at the hostel. The breakfast is very simple just a coffee and sweet threats and some pieces of bread. This is more expensive then the other hotels in chalten so I expected more
The manager is very welcoming and great everyone very nice; but I can't say the same for the volunteers that's were all the time pretending not to see me at least. Very close to the bus station, we can walk for all the trekkings. Beautiful garden outside

United KingdomThey don’t make it clear before arrival that they only want you to pay by cash, otherwise it’s a 20+% charge to pay by card. I booked a 4 dorm, and on arrival I was put in a room for 3 which was a double bed and a single that I had to share with a couple. It was so awkward for me and for them and the hostel shouldn’t have put us in this situation. We were in the numbered room we booked but based on the space there was no way they could have fit 4 beds in. The kitchen situation is fairly bad, they have one poorly placed cooker in the corner of the kitchen and at mealtimes people are trying to do their best to share a tiny corner of the kitchen. Noise insulation is poor and staff don’t seem to intervene when people stay up partying until 3am disturbing the whole hostel. They are trying to renovate the hostel and I’m sure that in the future they will resolve many of the issues but for now if you are booking this place there is a reason why the price is low for the area, just don’t be fooled by the photos.
It’s a new hostel in the process of being renovated, so be aware that the pictures displayed do not reflect what you get but this is why the price is lower for the area. Generally staff were friendly, and breakfast was basic.

United StatesNot spacious, the shared rooms are pretty small, but you won't spend much time there anyway! I recommend adding more charging outlets in the shared rooms :)
Very friendly staff, cozy home-like atmosphere. Hot water and great location near the bus station, supermarket and dining options.

United StatesEverything was great.
The staff was absolutely amazing! The owner is a great guy. Every hiking and weather recommendation was spot on. Would return 100%. The hotel is located in a great spot in El Chalten~ an easy walk to get groceries, restaurants, souvenirs or to access hike trails.

NetherlandsThe rooms are too small for all the people and their stuff. The shower is shit. Everytime there was something else wrong. There is no Nice place to hang inside except for the kitchen. The breakfast is only sweet stuff. Maybe Some eggs, cheese, ham or something real can be added. People are doing 20 km hikes. They need more than pastry. And for 33.000 per night it is too expensive.
They had Nice places to dit outside. The owner is helpfull in giving tips. The bed is ok. The kitchen is ok.

United StatesThe room was cold at night, but there was only one blanket, even though there were three beds. I also felt the plumbing needed work. Some showers didn’t have shower curtains so water got all over the floor. One toilet on the second floor didn’t work. Since the property is small, our room was very close to the dining room where people congregated at night. there was no living room. That made the noise level too high for me to get to sleep. I was not able to get to sleep until everyone in that dining room went to bed. Even though I asked him to keep the noise down. It would’ve been helpful if staff kept things quiet. The breakfast was just pastry and bread. Not enough coffee, just one coffee maker. Long wait for a second pot. I’d prefer a breakfast with more choices, such as yogurt, cereal, cheese, eggs, etc.
I was glad to be in a small room with only three beds

BoliviaMostly everything was great! About the bathroom it was always clean, however, I've never asked or was told about towels, I think they rent it, I didn't ask because I had mine. About the room, bed was great however there no places to storage with lockers, so we were sharing a wardrobe, which was ok among 3 girls. Hopefully the place (I mean all town) is safe, I didn't feel much stressed of not having somewhere with a locker to storage my valuables, I just left them in the room. And, I didn't bother much but there were some noisy days, I think young people hanging out till late in the common room.
Pretty near from the bus station, so walkable distance, it is the Constantino Hostel. I was very well welcome and Gonza at the front desk was patient while I was organizing myself to pay with card + cash. The hostel is well located there are restaurants around and not far from main street. My room was good, we had a heater, I had 2 roommates, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was nearby. There was hot water in the shower, so that was good. The breakfast was served from 6:30am so, pretty cool to grab some breakfast and go start the hikes all around. The hostel is about ~1km to the main entrance to the park (beginning Fitz Roy walk and Chorrillo and Cerro Torre) Wifi was really good, so I could watch some youtube after walking the whole day. Gonza was nice explaining some routes to go to and also Eve (a volunteer) was really cheerful when I ran into her and shared about my walks. I was there before Christmas and everyone gathered together to spend the night before Christmas, I think that's cute!

United KingdomPersonally I was happy 😃 but the kitchen only has one working stove which is not sufficient for all the many people who will cook as El Chalten is quite expensive!
A Shoutout to the Volunteer Dream Team Let me start by saying, this place is an absolute gem—not just because it’s a breezy five-minute stroll from the bus station, but because of the volunteer staff who run the show like pros (while secretly moonlighting as superheroes). Considering they’re volunteers, they’re doing a fantastic job. Actually, scratch that—they’re smashing it. Zoe, for instance, is a medialuna wizard. Her creations are so good they deserve their own fan club. Then there’s Marcos, the hiking guide extraordinaire, who makes scaling mountains sound like a casual afternoon stroll (even when your legs disagree). Paula, the English teacher, is a legend—she didn’t just teach; she often translated for me. And how could I forget the Spanish couple? Luis, affectionately nicknamed “the French guy” (don’t ask), made an onion soup so delicious it should have its own Michelin star. Maca, his lovely partner, brought warmth and good vibes wherever she went. Last but certainly not least, there’s Kevin, the manager. This guy is the ultimate fixer—got a problem? Kevin’s your man. And if it involves more than hand gestures, his partner Paula will swoop in to translate. Together, they run the hostel like a well-oiled machine, keeping everything sparkling clean and utterly welcoming. So, hats off to this incredible team for making my stay not just pleasant but downright memorable. If you’re lucky enough to stay here, bring your appetite for medialunas and your sense of humor—you’re in for a treat! ❤️

GermanyThe owner is annoying. He just wants to make as much money out of you as possible. We booked a four bed dorm and ended up in a dorm for 5. We stayed additional nights without booking and he charged us more than through booking. The last day the owner wanted to charge us extra for hanging out in the hostel and cooking something while waiting for the bus. Even though the volunteers told us it's fine.
The hostel is run by volunteers, they are all really helpful and friendly and the mood is good. The breakfast is nice, with fresh baked bread even though a bit small after long hiking days.

Israelthe price on booking is not the one they give you when you arrive, he said it's 20% more with card, and then he tried to get us to pay 20% more on that saying it's the conversion rate from peso (it's not), so overall if you're with card be ready to pay 40% more than listing price. the place was messy as hell, the corridors were full of building materials, and on random occasions (multiple times a day) the water in the room would get shut off.
volunteers were very nice
