Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelarusBed linen must be made by yourself. A lot of someone's hair on a clean sheet! Disgusting! No shower gel or soup in bathroom. Only in the toilet. Little towels. Absence of tea and coffee. (Coffee for money) And the main thing which spoiled our stay was one cleaning woman (black hair, with bang, from Poland). My wife accidentally ran into her when leaving the bathroom, my wife gave her a free way, and instead of "thank you" cleaning woman said: "kurwa". I will definitely not come back here!
Online check in A lot of bathrooms ant toilets. Fridge, plate, kitchen dishes on the kitchen

GermanyReally disliked the Qr code system. It was normal to see people struggling with it when getting in and out amd it adds extra worries by having to care about your phone running out of battery otherwise youre screwed. We also had a room in front of a big bathroom, and for some weird reason it smelled absolutely horrible. We had to close the door quickly or otherwise the smell would come in. I realize this might have been something temporary or accidental, also the other bathrooms didnt stink at all but at the same time this added a very weird feeling to our experience. Again room itself was very good.
Cozy and clean room. Room alone was an 8, kitchen was also cool.

Polandhowever, this hostel had some serious drawbacks as well. first of all, it's terribly loud there. You can hear absolutely everything that is happening in the corridor. Unfortunately for us, we had a room right next to the stairs leading to the kitchen area, where one night a large group of men decided to throw themselves a noisy all night long party. We couldn't sleep at all then. Due to the maintenance-free formula of the hostel, no one stopped it. the night silence in this place is a joke. Another disadvantage is that we did not receive pillowcases for our duvets, but only additional sheets, a slightly strange and unsanitary solution.
The hostel was clean and the location was quite good. also the ability to open the door with a QR code seemed to be a pretty good solution.

FranceBed sheets too short to cover feet. when asking the question by email, response was they did not provide more for environment/washing purposes. Fortunately we met a man who came for our neighbors who complained not having heating (true we did not get any the previous night) => he could witness the situation and provided bed sheets & fixed the heating for the whole building

Hong KongLack of human touch. Believe it is the trendy to have no reception and self-check-in via mobile. So let's embrace it. However, there are lot of details to work out to make the experience more human. Never underestimate the stress a customer could get when he is trying to check in at late hours, very tired and for some reasons, the mobile does not very well or the connection is very slow.

FranceOn the ground floor, you can't really open the window because it is giving on a courtyard and anybody could enter your room. The check-in method is very bad. You arrive at the hostel at 12pm and you have to do this difficult procedure. No service to help you or to check you in, you do everything by yourself.
The location was fine, the price was ok, the facility was ok, room is fine. Clean.

United KingdomPillows were too big for me, but it's just a personal issue. Other thing was that they gave us a sheet instead of a duvet cover, so at night we had to figure out how to get warm. Staff is not in the building only around 2-4pm, so if you have an issu you have to call a number. Doors were thin, it shouldnt be a problem, but all night other guests slammed it quite hard, so that was not the greatest. Lockers..because there is no lock, you have to bring one for yourself if you want to leave your stuff there, otherwise it'a all open for everyone.
Mostly clean rooms, very simple but does the job . Lots of toilets and showers , so we didn't need to wait for any of them Quick and easy check in and out.

PolandSometimes QR code to open the door didnt work well.
You can use publice space before checkin and after checkout. The place is cleaned everyday, kitchen is excellent. Bathrooms are clean and there is a lot of them. You can use a luggage storage but bring your lock with you. Metro station is in 5 minute walk, and there is a lot of shops. Wien Hbf ~ 20 minutes, city center ~ 15.

SpainNo staff inside the hostel if we have an issue we need to call another hostel. Unbelievable The toilets or showers were not very cleaned or people do not respect these areas. If I do not have any battery on my phone I am in a really bad situation as you can unlock your room and bed with QR code only. We do not have any locker to put our luggage so I put it in my bed but not really easy to sleep
Beds comfortable despite i put my luggage in the bed.
