Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe room was nice and clean but doesn't justify the high price. Dinner is pricey but the food's really not that good. Bathroom was clean but had a strong smell, so I guess some drainage issues.
Nice pond to swim in (but costs extra) and situated in a beautiful landscape. Very good connections via bus. Nice and friendly staff.

Czech RepublicStay here for us was more than confusing. Such a comedic experience. When we arrived they gave us double room for 6 people despite in fact we have booked one room for two people a told us there is no other free rooms for us. So next day when we came to reception The Comic Boss told us that we either stay in double room for additional price 150€ or change room but we have to wait for this room until afternoon. So we could leave our stuff on reception or in current room and they supposedly or staff take to our “new” room. And more.. We weren’t inform about additional price for breakfast so we had to pay in check out. Even some staff couldn’t speak english or german. Too expensive breakfast. Surcharge almost for everything.
Price for the room. Staff behavior was excellent.

LithuaniaYou should pay for WiFi (which is kinda weird in this age) and the food in the restaurant was quite pricy, that being said , the portions were huge.
The room we got was very spacious and definitely clean. Beds are wide and comfortable. There is a parking space in front of the hotel. We had also a shared balcony with a view to mountains. It wasn’t too loud despite some event taking place downstairs. There was also live music performance taking place and the staff was very nice and helping.

NetherlandsThere is a large children’s playground, but to be able to use it you must pay heavily. Even parents are charged. Quality of the playground is not perfect - at least not up to standard compared to what you have to pay each day. Breakfast is also expensive, and having to pay for wifi in the room is really not normal these days..
Location is great. Staff friendly. Rooms clean.

AustriaI was a solo traveller, yet got a tiny room with three beds prepred inside, which made the room miniscule. Also, cannot believe that in this age and time, you pay if you want to use internet in the room. This is a massive no-go. Finally, i have probably never in my life paid more for Latte. A cup of Latte for 7.90 eur is simply an insane rip off. So they expect you to use free internet in the bar and rip you off with prices I havent even seen in a 5 star hotel. I am sorry to say, but this hotel does not offer value for money.
Mountain view, breakfast was nice.

IrelandThe reception area was extremely cluttered, chaotic and messy with what seemed like a truck load of Christmas paraphernalia randomly placed everywhere both inside and out. The noise here was very loud too much of the time (OK for New Years eve but we weren't expecting that every night.) The room was pretty cramped considering what we paid.
The spa was very nice. The ski locker was very handy. We appreciated being able to shower and change after a days skiing before heading to the airport to go home.

ItalyWe booked a room in short notice for 60€, we had a small dog, it states on the hotel page that dogs are allowed without request. When we arrived, we checked in, the hotel employee saw the dog, we paid for our room, got our things into the room and went for an evening walk. On our way back to the hotel, we were stopped by an unpleasant rude hotel employee (not the one that checks us in) who claimed to be the owner of the hotel, he was talking in a rude way from the first words, told us that we have to pay 28€ for night (half of the price of the room, ridiculous). We asked to show us any document that proves the amount, but he refused again saying that he is the owner, he doesn’t have to show us anything and we just have to pay. He tried to imply that we were hiding the dog even though we already checked in and the staff saw the dog obviously). Wifi is for payment only as well as other things that are overpriced. Old and mouldy bathroom, bad soundproofing, could distinctly hear the neighbors

IsraelShared balcony for family rooms. The smell and cigarette smoke enters the room. Poor breakfast. Internet use costs money in 2023!!! And when you buy a surfing package it is not for the entire stay but for 3 days only.

Czech RepublicExtremely small room for 3 people. High price for small dog and really bad commuciation about this price (we received info about the price after the time of free cancellation, the info was misleading, so the receptionist was very surprised). It is declared as 4stars hotel, but you should pay for all items that are standard for 4 stars, The general feeling is Pay for everything. We stayed only for one night during long journey, so no extra needs, but the feeling was horrible. Overloaded lobby, but it depends on individual preferences. Farmhouse is very close to the hotel, count with smell and lot of insects outside.
Really nice breakfast. It is the only plus of this hotel. Mountain view from the balcony.

United KingdomWe thought we had booked two double rooms in a hotel, each with en-suite bathrooms. Our stay turned out to be in an apartment with one double, one twin and a small double sofa bed in the corner of the lounge ( pictured ). There was just one shared bathroom. Our immediate reaction was of disappointment, but as it was only one night and we had travelled a long way, we decided against checking out immediately. We arrived on a day with temperatures of over 30°C. The double bedroom had no exterior windows and no ventilation. It was terribly hot and stuffy. Trying to sleep in such an oppressive, airless room was very difficult. The description referred to WiFi, but apart from the free WiFi in the bar area, it was €5 per day extra. It was a cheap deal for the room, but everything else was expensive and poor value. Breakfast costs more than in some of the high end hotels we’ve stayed in. Essentially our disappointment was down to a mismatch between our expectations and what was actually provided, but fortunately it was only one night.
This hotel didn’t appeal to me

NetherlandsOur room was apparently not ready (18h00) and we were "upgraded for the night", with the caveat that it would cost between 50-100 euro extra to remain in the room the following night. That was just a bad experience and the following morning we chose to move to our "booked room", but then had to "check out" and come back at "check in" time (15h00) that day? Hello, we were still paying for the time from 9am to check in time, but had no room? Disappointing. Then EVERYTHING was extra? Five Euro p/d pp for wifi. Two Euro for the safe, fridge etc, many of which simply did not exist anymore? (i.e. fridges were removed 8yrs ago and underground parking vanished during Covid - but still on room service book? Also having no AC was a bit unpleasant, given the visiting mosquitoes. The hotel processes in particular feels like 1960's, and Berhof really needs to catch up with the times.
The hotel is in an amazingly beautiful region of Austria. There is plenty to rave about, especially as a kid friendly hotel, with amazing play areas, ponies, free buckets of bubbles etc. Staff are friendly, even if somewhat disempowered. Great in summer, and probably amazing in ski season, and we got the feeling this hotel is really geared towards
