How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There were no common areas to sit and meet people outside of your room.
I liked the location of the hostel and that the property maintained some typical viennese features. I paid for a 6 person dorm, and had the room to myself for 2 out of 3 days.

I think the beds need two cables so you can use both the fan and charge your mobile. It would be great if you can provide towels or even have them for a little fee. Also providing some keys for the lockers would be very useful.
Position ideal,staff super friendly and quick problem solving. Love the building, the continental breakfast is very tasty!

The check in and out was really easy and quick. the location is awesome, at the heart of Vienna’s city center. My stay there was short but I was satisfied with it.

Not sure why I was assigned top bunk when I was the only one in the room. But I didn’t really mind - bed was comfy!
Excellent location! Beautiful church up the steps right outside the hostel! Super easy self check in and check out! Nice size lockers provided in each room for each guest - Bring your own lock if you need!

it had weird quirks, one time I got stuck in the shower because the next shower's door blocked it
the location couldnt be better, it is a nice cost/offer combination, perfect for some travellers as me

Wifi wasn't working during all my stay. I have remote job so this was really inconvenient for me.
Ver clean and organized place. Good bathroom and showers. Had cleaning every day.

Good bathroom, really nice extra touches like a small wooden platform in front of the shower so stepping out of the shower there was a dry surface to stand on. Excellent water pressure for shower. Self check in during early hours of the morning was fantastic. Facilities were clean. Bed had a duvet and spare blanket, and a small fan that could be turned on.

Nothing to complain.
Location was perfect, in the heart of city center, next to metro station. Staff was very helpful and the breakfast was nice. Would definitely stay here again when ever I am in Vienna.

Depends in what you want but the hostel had more like hotel vibes especially in comparison to other hostels because there wasn‘t something like a common room and no kitchen. But except from that it was really great and we also met some other people because we were sleeping in a shared dorm so if you want to meet new people in this hostel I would recommend you to book that room aswell
The rooms and bathrooms were really clean and the location of the hostel was pretty good. Near to the center and a supermarket like 100meters away. The staff was so nice and helped with everything!! The only Problem was that there wasn‘t someone at the reception all the time, so that was a bit annoying.

Overall the place is very clean. Beds are made everyday and rooms are cleaned often. Nice for low-budget travelers.

I think there was not enough showers.
Location is close to the St Stephen's church, rooms are spacious and clean. It is hit in the summer but every bed has its own ventilator (and lamp, and power socket).

A bit confusing on self check in. No staff. No feeling of hospitality or social vibe with other travelers. A bit overpriced in my opinion.
Clean toilets and showers. Clean, comfy and neat beds. Window for good ventilation! Not too crowded.

The number of bathrooms is only two, one of them for women. This number is not enough, especially since it is for three rooms, meaning that the number of users of these two bathrooms is more than 20 persons

The room was quite small and the bed didn't have it's own curtain.
The bed had it's own plug and locker, both importsnt when you travel solo.
