Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLocation was great - central enough to access the main sites but not busy or noisy. We booked very last minute and was lucky enough to enjoy the junior suite. However there were steps in order to reach the lobby, so we had to carry our luggages up to checkin. The reception area had no space for guests who are waiting to speak to the front desk because the entire area is occupied by seats from the & flora restaurant. Breakfast was mediocre, it would have been nice to have more fruits. Our room was located on the 6/f below the gym so we hear thumping sounds from time to time from above, which was not ideal. The room itself and shower was fabulous, except the towels were thin and pillows were way too soft / flat. Overall we had a pleasant stay but I wouldn’t say it is good value for money.

Hotel Gilbert in Vienna is such a cool place. The vibe is super chill but still stylish—modern, artsy, and full of plants and personality. It feels welcoming from the second you walk in, like a mix between a cozy café and a trendy boutique. The staff was super friendly and always ready to help where needed. One of the best parts? The breakfast. Seriously, it’s not your usual boring hotel stuff. They’ve got really unique options—fresh, tasty, and clearly made with love. Things like roasted veggies, interesting toppings, and fresh herbs. Everything feels a bit special and different, in the best way. You can tell they care about quality and flavor. The location is also a big plus. There are plenty of cool bars and restaurants just a short walk away. If you’re looking for a place in Vienna that’s got a great atmosphere and pays attention to the little things, Hotel Gilbert is a winner. Would totally stay again.

ChinaAll the staff were friendly and professional. It was an amazing and cosy clean place. Breakfast was great , you see the chefs cooking the food in batches. Every morning I am greeted by Mina, the wait staff with a big smile. If I had to change something, I would change the pillows. It’s a bit flat for me.

SwitzerlandThe reception desk is understaffed. Everyone was professional, but it is not fair to the person alone at reception, nor for the guests to wait so long. Further staff is needed to elevate the experience of this otherwise exceptional hotel.
The hotel is in a very good location. It is so close to the sites and the U-Bahn. Good breakfast. Stylish lobby and rooms.

IsraelThe shower was difficult to adjust. We were disappointed in the breakfast which we paid extra for. While there were salads there were no green salads.
We were only there one night but for our purposes it was well located. Very close to an underground station. The staff was friendly. The room was clean and relatively comfortable.

United KingdomAmazing staff who made us feel exceptionally welcome! Treated to a sample of orange wine 😀. Receptionist offered good ideas of where to go, how to get there, where and what to eat! Deffo above and beyond. Rooms quiet, extremely comfortable and with nice toiletries. Welcome drink voucher much appreciated. Restaurant (very busy with locals too) was good with interesting food. Location super handy to museum quarter etc etc Suffice to say we’d a great 3 nights.

United KingdomBeautiful hotel, with a very modern feel. Everyone was welcoming. The restaurant was always busy and breakfast had a wide range of choices. It is in a good location for visiting the main parts of the city. There are a few restaurants around the area if you choose to eat out.

Latvia1. Rooms are super small. I stayed at suite room and even then I felt claustrophobic. rooms and hotel are quite dark. 2.Minibar is empty at the room, you can call and they will bring simple drinks up 3. Unfortunately walls are very thin. And in the morning they start to clean rooms early and it’s super loud, feels that they will enter the room while you still there. 4. Overall- I’d say price is a little too pricey but at the same time it’s okey and experience was very good :)
1. Breakfast- amazing. But there was no fish in the morning and nothing changed during the days. Small choice of bread and sweet foods and no choice of fish. 2. Hotel location is amazing 3. Hotel personnel amazing

A calm oasis of an hotel with an individual character of its own. Great value and beautiful weather rounded everything off (mid March). Staff quietly efficient and helpful. Central location meant everything on your doorstep (or public transport very close). Beautiful choice of food.

AustraliaNo minibar but not a big issue.
This is a very modern, comfortable hotel, close to many attractions in Vienna. The breakfast is excellent and the dining area peaceful and not crowded. The room is not large but suitable for a short stay for a couple. Always great to have a Nespresso coffee machine.

United KingdomUnfortunately we didn't like the breakfast at the hotel. There is a lack of variety (same thing everyday).. no hot plate so the eggs and bacon (which were the only hot things) got cold very quickly. There wasn't even a toast machine! Not worth the additional money.
We loved our stay at Hotel Gilbert. The junior suite is well worth the upgrade and the images on the website do not do the room justice! It was huge! Bed was comfortable & staff very friendly and helpful. General location was great and walking distance to main sites and close to station.
