How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

It was very cold in the rooms. Modest furniture. Dilapidated walls. The hotel does not have a parking lot.
Breakfast average, but quite satisfactory. Something for everyone. The best thing about the hotel is its location close to the City Hall and the Parliament of Austria. There is also an excellent Centimetar restaurant nearby.

Great find. The staff were very helpful and polite throughout. The breakfast was great with plenty of vegetarian options. The rooms were comfortable and the location was spot on. Had a great stay and would come back.

Almost nothing is in the room. No mini-fridge, no microwave, no USB charger. A hint for owners: if you put at least 2-3 tea bags for 10 cents, your guests will not have to drink only hot water when they arrive.
The location is good, close to the center.

The hotel staff were exceptional. I can't fault all the help and the advice they gave us. The elevator worked which was great! The room was spacious and warm. The shower pressure was very good. The beds were comfortable and the bedding and towels were all clean and the room was cleaned daily. The hotel was quiet but located centrally and close to Xmas markets. A short tram ride to Museum and many other sights. Great restaurant around the corner. The breakfast provided by the hotel was excellent! So much variety and lots of it. Breakfast room was large and clean and quiet. I would stay here again for sure.

This hotel is close to the centre, the room was clean and well equipped, the staff were very helpful. And let's not forget the amazing lift from 1913. It's a beautiful addition.

The beds might be much more comfortable.

The staff were really friendly. We had a nice big room on ground floor and breakfast was really good!! Location VERY good as could walk pretty much everywhere and the hotel was easy to find from the airport!

Absolutely nothing. Everything was fabulous.
We were in Vienna for the Christmas markets. We were easily able to walk to 6 of the markets, plus the public transport to Schonbrunn palace was 2 mins away. There are also good places to eat and drink nearby. Location is therefore excellent. The hotel staff are welcoming and friendly. The rooms are basic but very clean with comfortable beds and adjustable heating. Breakfast was excellent; typical continental buffet but fresh and plentiful. The hotel lift is very old and quirky - we loved that. We have stayed here three times now, and would not hesitate to go back.
