Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI realized that the shower gel and hand soap were switched in the room, not a huge deal. The front desk wasn't the most helpful at times. I could smell smoke from my room which irritated my allergies.
The room was large and I loved the bottle of wine in the room that was a nice touch. Also the bellman and person cleaning in the morning were so nice.

United Arab EmiratesBreakfast was a big drama, small area without air-conditioned, staff were not friendly at all, Breakfast was normal, and for anything you have to order to bring, we were waiting for a cup of tea more than half an hour, we preferred to not having breakfast at the hotel and going out to not waste the time.
Reception staff were so kind and friendly, the hotel was quiet and the location was nice

United KingdomWe were assured before arrival that the hotel was nut and peanut free as we have an allergy to both. We were encouraged to head down to the bar on our first nights stay, and as we sat down we were greeted by the barman who brought a bowl of peanuts to our table. This was very shocking to us as we booked the hotel for the reason that they assured us there were no peanuts on site. We left the bar and this soured our stay as we then had to be on high alert at breakfast times and around the hotel.
Breakfast was delicious. All staff were lovely and very helpful.

AustriaThe idea of offering a served breakfast at your table instead of the standard buffet kind is very attractive, but the execution was a catastrophe. Although the food was reasonable - except for the lukewarm coffee, the organization of the kitchen and serving staff was a shambles. Our breakfast took us one hour and a quarter, most of it waiting to be served. Totally ruined what might otherwise have been quite a nice stay.
The hotel is well located and has a certain charm, vaguely reminiscent of an early 20th century brothel. Many of the little design elements are although not terribly functional actually quite interesting,

IrelandThe room was too hot despite air conditioning adjustment. Only 1 set of sockets on one side of bed which meant I had to charge my phone near room door. Didn't like the separate duvets as they were very small. Only 1 or 2 English channels on TV. Light for doing makeup etc was too dim.
The room and hotel were beautiful. The complimentary bottle of wine was a lovely surprise and a nice gesture. The location was perfect. The shower was superb. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely but a bit expensive.

RomaniaFirst of all, even if booking.com had my card details as a guarantee, i was asked to pay upfront at checkin (as i was asked to present a credit card and i had none, i only use debit cards). The most disturbing thing was about the room, as even if it has a "private toilet", this has practically no door, there is a common "door" for both toilet and shower that glides covering one of both as you slide it from left to right and viceversa. This "door" does not completely shuts the toilet so you have no privacy, idk about other people but me and my partner had to go wait in the lobby when one of us was using the toilet. I understand the will to arrange the room as it was at the beginning of last century, but we as mankind have evolved since then. The room itself is very small (it was a "deluxe" room), the bed is queen-size at best. The pillows are like baloons, they deflate as you put your head down and you have to always adjust to be able to sleep. That is if you are able to sleep, given that you can hear everything from the other rooms. The TV remote did not work, i asked for new batteries and when we came back from visiting the city the remote was left on the window frame to charge from the sun as it did not work on normal batteries. It still did not work and i figured out it had an USB-C slot so you can charge it with your phone charger. I did that but i would have expected the staff to know and do that or at least inform us abt it. Not that you had anything to watch on TV other than local programs, probably the cheapest subscription possible in Austria. Even with the remote problem solved, the TV would not turn off, i had to always unplug it when going to sleep, after navigating through the maze of light switches trying to turn off the lights.
The hotel is very well positioned, a few steps away from Mariahilferstrasse and very close to a metro station. The atmosphere given by the interior design is indeed nice and cozy, remembering of the '20s

ItalyThe hotel is very nicely decorated with lots of charm, spotlessly clean and scented. The historical building hosting the hotel is fascinating and faces onto a rather quiet street. Location is wonderful, very closed to the U-Bahn U3 that brings directly to the historical city center (Stefansplatz) in few minutes. The above being said, we cannot give a good review to this hotel and we are sorry for this. We stayed in one of the smallest rooms of the hotel (Josephine sur court). We knew they were small, but the problem is that the absurd organization of the spaces within the room. No armchairs for the luggage, very few coat hangers, the suitcases – and clothes inside - must lay on the floor. Crazy functioning of the lights turn off / on. No daylight coming in the room, which is long and narrow: the window opens on a blind and dark courtyard. There is no space to enter the bed aside, you have to pay attention not to hit the walls. Bath, wc and shower are in the room with no privacy at all. The hangers for the bath towels are placed in way you cannot avoid to wet the wooden floor to pick them up. Water comes from the shower inside the WC when you take a shower. So that you have to cover all the adjoining floor with towels. Breakfast is served in the charming cocktail bar of the Hotel, booking is advisable. The atmosphere is great for a cocktail at night, not so much for a breakfast in the morning. No windows no sunlight. The “Viennese Breakfast” was actually unsatisfying. The bread (semmel) was rubbery. The butter has been served frozen and cannot be spread on the bread. Final comment: atmosphere and design – even though fantastic - are not enough. Too much discomfort and irrationality in the room spaces organization of the smallest rooms of the Hotel.
Good Location and good atmosphere but....

The rooms and the hotel are nicely decorated but room sizes totally insufficient for two people with two suitcases. We have had to step in between and around them on the floor as there wasn't space to put them anywhere else. The bathroom door can not be locked. The sink is in the "hallway" part of the room. Total lack of privacy The staff are very nice, welcoming and helpful. Hotel is in a great location, close to shops and underground in the centre if Vienna

BelgiumSmall, dark, no storage space, lack of electrical outlets, odd layout of light switches and sink offset from mirror (when over sink you cannot see in mirror). Front desk hands out keys without verification of ID and ‘safe’ can easily be removed from room. Also, I was in 2 rooms and both were >22C with heater off in December with window open. I would not stay there again.

PortugalThe cleaning staff are horrible and intrusive. Just before 9am of my stay, a cleaning person entered my room without notice. I had forgotten to put the “do not disturb sign” on the door, as if that was required at all for privacy. I left briefly for breakfast, returned at 10:30 am, and placed the do not disturb sign on the door. While I was undressed, my room was entered again without notice. I reported this to the front desk, and confirmed that the checkout time was 12 noon. I explained the situation and they told me the cleaning company was contracted and they had issues with training. I was offered a discount for a return stay and a free breakfast, but as I had already eaten in the morning I didn’t accept it. The discount that was offered to me was 18€ in total, for two nights. I declined. Having this happen once, is unfortunate, but a second time in the same morning is absolutely unacceptable. The Hotel’s offer of compensation for what I see as a huge privacy violation was completely undesirable. I won’t stay here again because of it, and it’s unfortunate because the hotel is so nice.
The hotel is beautiful, clean, well decorated and comfortable. I was excited to stay there as the hotel is very unique. It’s in a great part of the city and close to everything.

Czech RepublicUpon arrival we have been informed that the packed breskfast is not an option and returning the money for the breakfast I we cannot take either. We had to come for the second time to arrange it. It was not ready on time. And it consisted of two sandwiches. There was no non alcoholic welcome drink option, so we did not get that either. The dust from the chandelier was falling into the bad, the water from the shower was stuck, so after the quick shower half of the room was under the water. The room was small, did not match the pictures based on which I have chosen the room. In this particular case I needed a table.
The ambient, the location.

United KingdomVery nicely designed rooms but way too small to accomodate two people with suitcases on travels. There is a suitcase holder for one suitcase at the hallway but not actually big enough to hold an open suitcase. Therefore both suitcases stayed on the floor and room was even more crowded. We had no view in our room. Just a wall of opposite building with little light coming in. On arrival we thought that there is no tv in the room as tv was behind window curtain. bathroom is very small without a lockable door. Also the sink is in the hallway with the mirror not being directly above it so shaving is quite uncomfortable and messy. were also told that we have to pre-order breakfast and then told by other staff that we don't have to pre-order but only told on out departure. But glad we didn't order as the breakfast prices are outrageous. Very expensive. Overall experience was ok but wouldn't stay again.
