Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandThe location was good, next to a bus stop. Bakery almost next door and a grocery store near by. The apartment was spacious, solid wood furniture typical to the area, comfy couch, bathroom spacious, balcony facing the mountains. The landlady was helpful and the Italian restaurant on the ground floor was excellent.

United StatesVery nice property that is convenient to Salzburg even though it is 40 minutes to downtown. You only need to step out the door to catch the bus….i am serious. The place is spotless and well equipped with great views. The bed is ok and would have been much better with extra pillows. The biggest shortcomings was the WIFI. it was sporadic at best. If WIFI is important you perhaps you may want to consider another place to stay. There is a grocery about 15 by foot. If they would step up their game with WIFI i would rate it a 10…too bad.

North MacedoniaA beautiful place just 14 km from Salzburg, you have everything you need for enjoyment and relaxation, with a beautiful view of the Alps, a food and drink shop nearby, a perfectly decorated and clean apartment, Mrs. Renate is a wonderful person, regular bus service and a stop in front of Kaiser Karl that takes you to Salzburg but also on the other side of the border, in the Bavaria area which is also beautiful, you must visit Bad Reichenhall which is 4 km from Grossgmain and have a wonderful time

United KingdomJust a token quantity of tea/coffee/sugar/milk. This place is out of the way and people arrive at night. The owner ought to think about this, It wouldn't cost a lot but would mean so much. She could add it to the bill and it wouldn't affect her. I can see that the 'system' she has set up requires minimal input from her. I get that. But...we/guests arrive at night - there is no local shop (the petrol station is a bit of a hike). It would be nice to have a cup of coffee. She would expect that if she traveled abroad I'm sure.. This is the first place like this that has not had at least a few sachets of coffee/tea and milk. But having met her I believe she might be strong-minded and will not agree - no insult intended. I can understand that.
This was generally a nice place and I would recommend it and would stay again. I chose Grossgmain because, as a seasoned visitor to Salzburg, I just am fed up with the ridiculous hotel prices in the City and frankly they - a lot of the hotels - have lost their charm. Grossgmain is 40+ mins by a very pleasant and cheap (!) bus. This 'hotel' was Clean and very warm. Goodness knows what the heating bills are like! I say 'hotel' because this is, as you understand I am sure, a self-catering place really. But it still seems like a hotel in some respects. Nice Italian restaurant on the ground floor of this place. Ate there a couple of times. Nice people running it. A family I figured. Not entirely sure what the set-up is, but I felt the restaurant is entirely separate to the 'lettings' of the rooms/hotel above, but the arrangement obviously works pretty well. There is also a very pleasant cafe in the town (50 metres distant) where you can get a fab breakfast - real quality, worth a visit. Or two. Opens on a Sunday too. And the hotel next door, I only remember it as Hotel Volterol - like the ibuprofen pain relief but spelled differently ..not 'Volterol' - it has a great restaurant. It does a super breakfast and has a lovely evening menu - try the salt beef.. There is also a classic Austrian hostelry restaurant at the other end of town which has a traditional menu - great Schnitzels. A walk of a mile or so, not far, but well worth the walk. So, Grossgmain is an outlying town and as a tourist you will be in the minority, but once you understand the place it seems to to have just enough to make it work well. The town and this hotel I recommend.

United KingdomThe only thing and it is a VERY minor point, we struggled with the feather pillows as they do not offer any support. As I say, being very picky as the apartment was beautiful. Maybe some more pillows, firmer pillows or cushions world help. Also a double duvet would be nice.
Loved the space, the bed, the facilities, the view, the staff, and the location. Communication was also very good and they couldn't do enough to help.

NorwayOnly real downside that I can think of was the bathtub/shower combination. It's not really suited for older people. I stayed here with my grandma and she could not use the shower and had to use a washing cloth instead and wash herself the old fashioned way.
The staff were very friendly. One of the men working in the restaurant downstairs even offered to help us carrying some of the luggage. The hostess is very friendly and helpful and her english was good. The room itself was spacious with a pretty big balcony with a nice view. You could see that the furniture was old but it fits good in with the whole aesthetic of the building. Parking was also good. The kitchen had plenty of equipment (even a toaster!). The fact that there is an italian restaurant in the same building was nice. You would always smell delicious food when walking down the stairs (if you are sensitive to smells don't worry, the smell would not reach the upper levels were the rooms are located).
