Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelThe day after we arrived, they started renovating the lobby. It would have been appropriate if a renovation was planned in the lobby, they would have said so in advance.
The hotel is in an excellent location, the rooms are clean and well equipped and the breakfast is excellent.

The hotel is easy to find, parking is next door. It is a basic hotel, with newly decorated rooms. Breakfast was perfect. Staff really nice. The street and view not special, but it is close to the Danube and easy walk to the nicest areas. They are dog friendly. The bed is super comfortable and huge.

IrelandI don't like to be downbeat but the simple fact is that the new rooms are disappointing. They are about half the size of the original rooms and very dark (half of the room had dark paint and it had no ceiling lights) with just an open coat rail and tiny cupboard for clothes. The bathroom was also smaller than in the previous room, but everything worked OK. My room was quite warm on a couple of days and the wall-mounted air conditioning struggled to get the temperature below 22C - this was in April, I worry it would get impossibly hot in the summer. Basically, I think the hotel have taken the original nice, spacious rooms and split them in two in order to double the capacity. Unfortunately they have also substantially increased the price, so the average per night amount I paid last year has increased by just under 50% for a room that felt about 50% smaller. I'm just a bit saddened, the hotel was very good value a year ago but this time my colleagues staying in other hotels had better rooms at better prices. The Mercure was not bad - just a disappointment compared to how it used to be. I will probably look elsewhere next time.
I stayed in the Mercure Wein City on the same business trip at about the same time last year, the location is very convenient and the staff are always very friendly and helpful. I was advised after booking that there would be building work going on, and there was, but the noise level was not problematic or at antisocial times (and I appreciated the honesty of being forewarned). Plastic sheeting on the corridor outside the room, and duct tape around the door fittings in the room were a bit unsightly but not a big deal. Breakfast was nice, plenty of variety and good quality.

United KingdomOn the first night I noticed that the room was extremely hot and I couldn’t change the temperature. Also noticed that Wi-Fi was not working. Next morning I enquired the staff about these issues and was told that room temperature was centrally controlled and at that moment it was a heating mode and temperature could not be changed. I was suggested to open all windows in my room, which I did and the noise of the street got very loud. Wi-Fi apparently was only working in the lobby area, not in the rooms. I was not informed about the technical (IT) issues they were having and luckily I wasn’t there for work, otherwise I would be in trouble.
Location is perfect. Easy access to town and main area. Also easy to get to from the airport. Close to public transport

On check in the kind pleasant lady brought us teabags and milk in carton to our room once we enquired bout it. We got fresh bottle of water every morning. The breakfast is amazing, the best I have seen. Room was warm, quiet despite the renovation which did not interfere with our stay. Location is good, easy to access points of interest by foot. Reception staff were always very helpful, we stayed four nights. Highly recommend this hotel.

GreeceThe bathroom door wouldn't close properly. We were given a room outside of the office and the staff were quite noisy. The cleaning ladies came into the room twice, while we were inside.
Breakfast was great! They had great variety! The staff at the breakfast were very polite! Although I missed some sunny side up eggs! The best thing about our stay is that our room was ready since the morning and we didn't have to wait until 3 pm! They have fulfilled our requirement for an early check-in. The hotel was very close to the airport and to the city Centre. Very easy access with tram and underground!
