Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilThe Car acess is horrible and dangerous to park, direct from the road, cause me a very bad impression . The access to the rooms are pretty bad, by stairs, no elevator, nobody to help to carry the luggage
Amazing place between the Austrian alps in Tirol. Clean rooms, good kitchen and bathroom, very good Decoration stile 17-18 century

CanadaOur suite was further from the main building than I thought, which was fine with us, but might not be to everyone's taste. The boats, while free, were in pretty disgraceful shape.
Right on our hiking route! Great atmosphere in the dining room. Too bad about the smoking on the outside dining patio ..... but that is true of all of Austria.

United KingdomNo tea or coffee making facilities in the room. From the literature I thought the hotel was in the castle but it wasn’t and we were not allowed in the castle. I felt a little cheated.
Staff were really nice.

United KingdomWe didn’t get chance to explore the grounds and lake because for one full day it poured with rain so sat in the lovely forelle room and played cards and read all day. As senior citizens we found the size of the portions for evening meal to be too big and overwhelming. We asked for smaller portions, which was accommodated with alacrity but even so we could not do justice to the lovely food on the plate. I do wish hotels in Austria would produce a senior citizens portion. Appetites lesson as you get older. I am sure even much younger people would be challenged by the portion size. It’s not meant as a criticism, but as a suggestion. And, it’s not just this hotel where we found this happening. There’s very little not to like about this very popular hotel which is so full of history.
A superb choice at breakfast for a wide variety of tastes and diets. The restaurant is spectacular and the waiter service professional, attentive and impeccable. Your every need is catered for. Every table is well laid out and feels upmarket. There is so much to look at in this Schloss hotel, every piece of wall space, corridor space, in fact everywhere is filled with amazing artefacts from a bygone age. We felt it quirky but beguiling. Can totally understand why King Ludwig loved the place.

AustraliaThe busy road which I know nothing can be done about . Sadly we could not have the window open because of the traffic noise . The view magnificent! The restaurants food and wait staff superb BUT. So over priced for what was delivered. In my experience Tartare is always delivered with raw egg and it was worth half what we paid for it . The lake area needed a bit of TLC but it’s nice to sit by . The wifi was very poor sadly as well, but above all the castle hike and the smiling staff made it all ok .
The lake was accessible by the under road path and away from the busy highway . The place was quirky and a little over done but inviting at the same time . Bed comfortable and Aircon was bliss.

CanadaBed was waaaaay too soft. I had to sleep on my yoga mat. I also tried to post on social media and the internet was just too slow. For the price of the room this could be improved.
I loved the location and I would not change a thing! The rooms are clean and the decor lovely too. Our dinner was nice and the portions very generous.

NetherlandsThe kitchen was absolutely tiny and not very well stocked but we brought a lot of our own supplies which helped :).
The view, location and sound of the running water nearby made this a perfect apartment for us. We traveled with our dog and there were so many great paths to hike! We explored the surrounding area mostly on foot which was lovely. The apartment itself had enough room to lounge in and the balcony was good. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

United StatesWhen going through booking, I feel like they didn't explain that the hotel has two different parts. There is a hotel portion and "castle" portion, and they are separated. The hotel also has many dining rooms; however, the room you sleep in is assigned to a specific table in one dining room. This means you don't get to see/use the other dining rooms.
The grounds include some very easy hikes around the lake and free access to paddle boats and canoes. There is an on site restaurant, and they are very accommodating with late check-in. If you are arriving after the kitchen closes, you can notify the hotel and they will set aside a cold plate for you when you arrive.

United StatesWe stayed in the hotel building, not the historical schloss. We found it difficult to get to the schloss. No clear signage to show the way.
Beautiful location - historical buildings and property. We enjoyed a long walk around the lake. It is on a major highway but we didn't notice any loud road noise after going to bed.
