Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsTold the check-in counter lady (very friendly by the way!) that the floor in the shower area is very (!) slippery when the water is turned on and you take a shower using some soap. They should put anti-slip strips there.
The hotel is a bit far from the city center and that is where you need to go for the action. But the hotel itself was okay. The management has decided that the hotel should be "green". That means no more water cups at the shower area.

United KingdomLike I say the room was a bit challenging. When the third bed was not down, there was a bit more room but only two chairs so I did find it puzzling as to how three people may live there for more than a night. Maybe I am getting spoiled after massive, inexpensive apartments in Eastern Europe!! Or I am getting old... it is actually a really good fun place to stay!
The staff were great - great English and speedy checkin. The hotel is right on the edge of town with an exit onto the river for walking in. We were given great instructions. The facilities in the main lobby were fab for our teen - gym, ping pong and table football. Great bar and pizza if you stayed in. Our room was in Adagio and it was tight - we got used to spacious rooms on our road trip and stayed in Germany the day before in a comparable Palace for just over half the price, but not including breakfast. When all the fold down beds are down, three of us were tripping over each other. Bags had to go in the entrance. Because of the pull down effect (very clever) then you had a weird ledge in the back of your head but I didn't notice it when I got the pillow right. Handy little kitchenette. The bathroom comparatively was wheelchair ready and was ginormous! So I guess we compromised space for location :) parking is easy but another tax - 18 euro a night - but I don't know if that is standard for Ghent

Great location and a great hotel - the staff were the bonus, clearly dealing with a lot of tech issues and angry customers, but they dealt with it amazingly

NetherlandsI think that the bathroom we had in our 3 person room was spacious but there was not many places and spots for us to put our higiene items in a handly manner, for example, there was no support in the shower so we could leave our soap and shampoo.
The hotel was close to the city center, it was quiet during the night, comfortable beds, the staff was very friendly and helpful, breakfast was good plus one of the best spare ribs ever.

United KingdomThere is no cleaning of the room if you are staying less than 7 nights. The pillows were smelling bad. The location is not ideal, since there aren’t many options of bars and restaurants around - you may have to walk to the city center to find good options.
The facilities are great, with a good space for working, bar and restaurant. The room has a good size, is clean and cozy. The staff is nice. The location is good, although it is out of the city center. There are many options of public transportation to the city center, though.
