Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PakistanThe owners should mention the narrowness of the staircase on their site. Very difficult if traveling with large luggage. They are also not lit when entering at night, we both tripped (& nearly fell!) on the stairs. Lights should be kept on or the switch not positioned at the top of the stairs (once you have gone all the way up in the dark!) Very poor WiFi, in desperate need of an upgrade!
The room was cute, central location.

FranceThe location is great. The auberge is very nice. Our only problem was the lock on our door. The key turned but would not come out of the lock w/o a fight.

CanadaI arrived early but there was no reception and nobody answered the buzzer. I had to drop off my luggage at the station lockers instead. Definitely be aware if you have large or heavy luggage as it's a tight spiral staircase up.
The room was spacious with high ceilings (upper floor) and has nice character. Have espresso and tea you can partake in within the room which is nice.

United KingdomThe electrical cables, wires and connections in the room looked scary.
Extremely helpful and responsive about our unexpected late check in (but use stickier tape next time!). Quiet location but actually very central position - convenient for everything. We didn't expect to have the use of a kitchen, so that was a real bonus.

United KingdomThe shared kitchen area was a bit odd. Ony used it to make a morning cup of tea and wouldn't have wanted to use it for cooking. On our first morning there were no clean cups or mugs. Our room, Room 2 suffered from noise from upstairs and from next door. Upstairs was very noticable on Sunday morning at about 04:00 when the guests were leaving. We heard the plumbling from both rooms. Maybe it is different with the other rooms.
Loved the apartment - very spacious and a comfortable bed. Perfect for two people with a very good shower room. We found the place easily from the Station.

TurkeyMaybe the host can be more friendly, but it is OK. Also, if there was a slipper in the room, it could be more comfortable.
The location is very close to the city center. L'Auberge de l'éclipse is cheaper than other places. The room is comfortable and clean. The internet connection is good.

ColombiaThe street could be a little noisy some times. I'd like to tell that the stairs could be very dangerous as in the upper part of the 1st floor a step begins after the border and if you don't have lights on you could literaly have a baaaad fall. Hopefully my husband was there to catch me in that moment.
Location is excellent: in the very historic cebterof Antwerpe: everything was at walking distance. The room was daily cleaned and the bath was great. Check in was really easy.

United StatesOur shower didn't get very hot, some pedestrian noise outside but it seems unavoidable in the area.
A short walk away from the grand place on a fairly quiet street. Luggage storage was nice to have.

Very good location. Easy to reach to the old town. The shared kitchen at the ground floor. The room is not big, and the table and wardrobe are quite old haha. But surprisingly the bathroom is rather new and clean. Overall it is worthy to live there

United StatesThe only part I really struggled with was there was no fan and no AC. I expected no AC, that’s pretty much everywhere, but with zero airflow and warm days (we stayed early June) the nights were pretty miserable. I can’t fall asleep well if it’s noisy and if we left the windows open for airflow, everyone outside was way too loud. Other than that we loved our stay.
This little hotel was great! Since it’s a budget hotel it honestly exceeded my expectations. Our room was very large, clean and had a nice upgraded bathroom. The bed was two twins put together, so king sized, and pretty comfy. Hotel is super small, only like 6 rooms so it wasn’t loud and there was a communal kitchen if you needed it.

NetherlandsThe rooms have no aircom, which is understandable take that it is a budget option. We left windows open but outside is pretty noisy the whole night. The furniture is pretty old and no shelves per se.

United KingdomThe bathroom was poorly lit and the black tiles made it darker. A main full figure mirror is missing from the room, made it hard to get two people ready at the same time. The room was decently clean but we found an inhaler under the bed near the side table, signalling a relaxed approach to cleaning.
It didn’t hit immediately but the location is brilliant, it’s 5 minutes from the main square and with loads of eateries around. Even being so central it was really quiet at night. The room was really big and the bed very comfortable, an additional duvet and pillow were available in the wardrobe. The bathroom had a bidet, a large sink, a spacious shower. A hairdryer and toiletries were available. Loads of power outlets. The room was full of character thanks to wooden floors, wooden ceiling beams and old wooden furniture. There is no real reception, but it was easy to arrange via message holding our luggages while we were out the last afternoon of our stay.
