Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI had a locker on my lock and on my last day the lock was destroyed and thrown into the trash can along with another person's lock too. the area around the lock was all scratched up. Nothing was stolen . Yet, someone had rummaged through my things . It was very creepy. The shower room smells like hell. The mold smell is pretty pungent. There was a mysterious suitcase in the room for about 5 days. The owner dropped it off but then he left and didn't return for many days. I found out later that he was in the hospital.
Denis and Alberto bent over backwards to make sure that I was comfortable and happy during my stay. The bed is the most comfortable bed of all time. The breakfast was a great bang for your buck. The location was perfect.

PortugalThe Hostel Lapp is a perfect example of a capitalist economy of resources to obtain the maximum profit. I booked a shared room and was aware of its implications. So, I was assigned a bed in a shared room: bed number 1. The thing is that this bed (which is in the upper part of a bunk bed) is perfectly placed 10 centimeters from the air conditioning exit. So, the noise is constant (more than as if you are inside of an airplane) and my throat was in the worst condition after spending a night so close to constant air flowing. One other thing puzzled me, the other bed in the room (another bunk bed) has curtains that gives some privacy and protects the user from the light when another person switches on the lights to enter the room or wash their hands (the wash basin is in the side of the beds). So, why do some beds have this "plus" and others don't? Should I pay extra money to have it? I didn't see anything on the website to indicate it when I booked my reservation...
The room is clean, the breakfast looks very good (I didn't have time to enjoy it), and the staff is sympathetic.

BelgiumNo bathrooms out of the room (if i’m not wrong). It would have been more peaceful and comfortable in the room if bathrooms were outside.
The bed is very comfortable. I appreciate the curtains so much !!! This hostel is modern, clean and it seems to have a lot of activities for travelers.

United KingdomStaff didn't seem bothered about pushing any activities. There is supposed to be something every night, I was there 5 nights and saw 0 activities happen. No kitchen which was annoying but I knew that before I went. Having to pay for the locker felt REALLY cheeky, never had to pay to store luggage before in a hostel. Also, just a personal thing, I didn't like the fact that you only option was the ensuite toilet. There was one toilet in the bar for women but shared showers and loos would have been good. The showers were also a bit smelly.
Comfy and clean. Good prices for beer during happy hour. Great location.

Irelandthere was a loud noise (unknown reason) in the room. I asked for switching room and was not allowed. Then, I asked for refund and the staff refused cuz i have used the bed. How ridiculous the rationale was. The staff was extremely not helpful and the experience was really bad.

ItalyI was in a top bed and the ceiling was a little bit low and also il wasn't exactly freshly painted. Also, from the pictures I didn't realise that only 2 out of 4 beds had a curtain. I had a bed without the curtain. It's not the end of the world, but I would've preferred having a curtain.
Great breakfast. Great check in.

NetherlandsThe climate control is horrible. There was no way to get fresh air into the room. A window couldn’t be opened. The air conditioning could only blast out hot (really hot) air. When we mentioned this to the staff we got a regular fan. This just moves air and the temperature or fresh air was not improved. To top it off, our shower only gave out cold water… We went here in January so a warm shower would be nice. For 250€ for two nights I would definitely not recommend this.
It was clean and location is oké

CanadaThe wifi was very choppy in the rooms and barely worked for most of us. The showers had an odour from the drains and needs to be cleaned.
It was very close to the metro and easy to walk to. The location is close to grand place making it ideal to visit those areas. There was also options to have a buffet breakfast which was very nice!

United StatesStaffs response
My first night was difficult. Had some people in the room talking late into the night. Then showering at 1:30am in the morning. Then their alarm on their phone going off every 30 minutes. Reported to staff but stated they were full. Next day changed rooms. First was given bed that was dirty and slept in. Finally gave me a proper bed.

GreeceThe hotel is super noisy, rooms are not insulated, you can hear everything (stayed in 104). Noise comes from the reception area and the bar (even after midnight), from the other rooms, pretty much from everywhere, making it impossible to sleep and rest properly. Hotel needs renovation (e.g., dirty walls on the stairs, old elevators, dehumidifiers in the corridor). Room bathroom old and dusty. Price too high for what you get, breakfast options limited and very crowded in the morning, coffee machine not working any of the three days. Staff makes a good effort but it is obvious that management goes with the high demand of Brussels and does not care. The remarks were provided to the management by email on the first day, never received any reply. I still wonder why the hotel has good reviews (maybe because of the dormitories). Overall a huge disappointment and not recommended

United StatesI was assigned to a bed that the lock was broken. After showing the reception guy, he changed me to another bed. After leaving my bags there to go out, I returned to the room and realized the outlet neither the internal light of my bed was working. I went to the reception and talked to Otto, who said he couldn’t do anything because the hostel is full. So I asked him what should I do to charge my phone and his answer was to put near the sink, in another outlet. I asked if something happened to my phone while charging, for example, another guest drips water on it, if the hostel would be responsible, his answer was: “do you think this is a 5 star hotel?”. He said someone has been to the room but they thought I was on the the bed and didn’t even care to check (because I was not). My point is that they know, before I told Otto, that the electricity was off in that bed, and still sent me to the bed. I was so negative surprised with his talk and his attitude, that I decided to go out. After returning, he said they refunded me part of the first night and he gave me 2 welcome drinks (which I didn’t even use). The refund was $20 which I’d rather had the outlet and electricity than having this money back. Otto needs to improve his customer service skills asap.
Location, and the bed is comfortable. Some of the staff, especially the guy from Portugal that works in the reception.
