Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Friendly staff. Interesting artifacts around the hostel. Breakfast was filling and healthy. Lovely mix of people staying. Safe environment. Great value for drinks. Ideal location for walking into town or along canal. We had a comfortable twin room and fantastic shower. Would recommend to others.

LuxembourgA few things actually, my room was on 2nd floor which has only 1 shower and 1 toilet. Shower: The height of the shower is about 5 feet (153 or so cms), which turns on the water only when you keep on pushing the button (kinda like a gym shower), so if you push the button, the water stays on for all of 2 seconds. So overall, you have to bend down while continuously pushing the button to get the water - quite an adventure in the morning. Toilet: very tiny with no option to wash the hands and you have to go to the showers to use the wash basin. The fuckup was that even there they were out of soap. Cleanliness: The floor of the shower looked like it hasn't even been vacuumed for days. The room floor was slightly cleaner but the corners were dirty. Bed: It was a lumpy bed with some graining on the mattress, I didn't even dare lift the sheet to check how the actual mattress looked like. Not a pleasant experience.
The bar and the ambience on the ground floor was great. Also the size of the room was quite big.

Germanyvery old facility, doesn’t worth to pay 80€/pp to have just a bed in a double-ish super small room.
Location and breakfast are good, stuff are very friendly.

Francethe entire place is in dire need of an upgrade. We had a private room with shared bathroom. The room windows were dirty (and not only outside), taps of the sink were broken, light was not cosy at all, not even a chair to sit. Bathroom and toilets were clean, but quite basic and old fashioned. Even in the category of youth hostel, one can find much better, particularly as I found the price out of touch with the service. This said, it was one of the cheapest option for the extended "Ascension" week-end. But I'll try to find a better bargain next time
location is within the old Brugges, but in the quiet eastern part ; it takes 7/8 min walk to the animated part of the city - so, overall, this is a good compromise : not too noisy and not too far either. Large bar downstairs, where it is possible to mingle with the residents, good vibe, good beer. Room was simple, as can be expected for a youth hostel, but beds were confortable and sheets were clean.

FinlandThe bar in the hostel lobby is enourmously loud. Expect some drunk screaming students to get back from the party at 5am. Flimsy separators between paired beds. Every touch makes knocking sound for your neighbour. There were black flies in the shower/toilet room.
Very reasonable price for Brugge, good location. Enough spaces for work in the lobby/bar with electric plugs and moderately good wifi. There was a cheap option for a humble breakfast. Good enough bedclothes. Solid ladders near bunk beds.

MalaysiaThe individual locker underneath the bed is really noisy, when others opening their locker at night or early morning, is really disturbing the sleep The hostel is above the pub, noisy until very late night or early morning, that’s also cause disturbances for the sleep Is quite far from the city. But apparently there is a bus. Strongly advice to check the bus info to take you to the place if you have heavy luggage as the walk from station to the hostel although is very beautiful but can be really tiring with heavy luggage
Each bed has the curtain and charging facilities , so is good as it creates a bit of privacy

GermanyI really enjoyed the stay here! Everything was clean and it was a really nice atmosphere! The bar is also a spot for locals and the party they threw on Saturday had this dance bar vibe and unlike common hostel parties it was not just about getting drunk.

BelgiumIt was really warm in the room, also during the night, but it was survivable. No hot water in the shower or sink, so no hope of a pleasant shower, or a clean shave, unfortunately. Otherwise 10/10.
Most important of all it was clean. Good bed. Clean toilet and shower, separate from the room. If you like to grab a few beers the reception area is also a bar, and quite a few gathered there in the evening. If you prefer a little quiet then it is just a short walk to several cafés.

New ZealandThe rooms weren’t very clean and the bathroom and hall smelt quite bad. The rooms were small for having 10 people in them which made them quite noisey and the curtains were broken in a lot of bunks and some things in the bathroom were also broken
