Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThese are really minor points but maybe just good to know: - the house is old and therefore has wooden floors which means you can hear the people in the flat above quite a bit. This didn't bother us but worth knowing if you are expecting complete silence. - have to pay for the city tax in cash which you leave in a little box. I never carry cash these days so it was a bit inconvenient to have to go take cash out and spend some to get change to put in the box. I would have rather paid it together with the reservation (but a lot of places take the city tax payment like this so not entirely surprising). Again, these are very minor points and overall we had an absolutely fantastic stay.
The location really couldn't be any better. Right in front of a park and a hill where you can start a couple of hikes. 2 minutes away from the main square with shops and restaurants. The place is very cozy and has all the amenities you might need. The hosts were lovely and really easy to contact. Would love to stay here again!!

United KingdomA radio would have been welcome and information on the television system would have been useful. I think it shoud be made clear that the car parking is simply on the public road outside. When staying at the weekend tha park was busy with plenty of cars parking nearby. I did however manage to park outside as shown in the attached photo.
A very characterful property with an artistic charm. Well fitted out. Situated in a pleasant part of the town, next to a park..

United KingdomThe kitchen worktop is unusual and difficult to work on and keep clean.
Very central but remarkably quiet location. All the shops and restaurants of Spa on your door step. The hosts provided a lovely welcome pack. The apartment has all the little extras (e.g. hairdryer, cling film etc.) that make a stay more comfortable.

United KingdomFor us, the bed mattress was too soft, but we are used to quite hard mattress.
Fantastic apartment in a perfect location in Spa. Had all we needed for a week hiking in the Ardennes and exploring the town. Some nights we cooked and the kitchen had everything we needed. Comfortable living room. Lovely and bright bathroom. We sat out in the private, little courtyard to have our lunch. Our small dog was welcome to stay and it was perfect for her too. Host very helpful and communicated quickly. Highly recommend staying here.

United KingdomA well equipped apartment on the ground floor, with a nice quirky mix of older and modern decoration. Nice clean bathroom with good size walk-in shower, hot water arrived quickly and there were plenty of bath sheets and towels. Although I didn't have cause to use the kitchen facilities, there was everything one needed should one want to eat at home. Comfortable bed in a decent size room, overlooking a small outdoor terrace, which had a table and a pair of chairs. Very nice central location, but equally very quiet with parking across the street fronting a park.

Great location and very friendly & helpful hosts - even if we didn´t have the change to meet each other in person. The apartment itself is really pretty (although you must like the colour red) and the location works wonderfully. I visited the Thermes de Spa for two days and was very happy to return to this place in both evenings. Would have stayed longer and will reserve La Duchesse again, if the occasion rises.

United StatesSmall conveniences that would be nice additions: a larger cutting board and kitchen knife. Also, there was a slightly funky aroma in the (otherwise very comfortable) sofa cushions.
Location is quiet yet central to everything. The hosts were cheerfully in contact to ensure my stay was comfortable throughout the week (just enough). The decor is warm, unique and homey, with the essentials and a few lovely extras like a welcome with bottles of the local waters and chocolates. Great for an independent guest (or couple) who likes to self-cater. Local hiking trails and the Thermes spa are easily accessed across the park in front of the house. The supermarket SPAR is just around the corner, and the organic "L'Epicierie Demain" is on the next block. Very close to the train station and there is a local bus stop in front of the SPAR, so a car is not necessary, but if you have one, there is ample parking on the street by the house. The central Place Royale (where the Brocante and Marché Hebdomadaire happen each week) is also just a 5 minute walk. Really a perfect location for all the activities Spa has to offer.

United KingdomWhen we first arrived the hosts had opened all the windows as it was a hot day, which was appreciated, but it had let in an awful lot of flies that seemed to be there due to a tree overhanging the small terrace outdoors. The owners obviously can't help that, but it was a little frustrating to spend an hour chasing flies out of the place! We also noticed some ants and Aside from that, the whole apartment could've done with a refresh - a lick of paint, some refurbishment to reinforce the door (which didn't feel super secure) and a good clean would've gone a long way. Also, watch out for the nails that are sticking up from the floor in the main room, as these were a bit of a shock on the feet! (Although they weren't sharp side up, thankfully). The kitchen facilities were appreciated but I didn't cook any special meals, as the kitchenette working space is very small so it wasn't super practical. Also, the bedroom and bed were pretty uncomfortable - the mattress is very thin and the duvet set was way too thick for the 28 degree heatwave that had taken Spa by force.
The location of the apartment was absolutely perfect, and had plenty of onstreet parking - we never once worried about getting parked up in the centre of Spa. It was also super easy to find and close to plenty of restaurants and the Spa baths, which we didn't get time to visit. It was easy to get into the apartment and collect the keys, and the rain shower in the bathroom was much appreciated. Having a television in the bedroom was also helpful as we were there for the 24h Spa GT race, so we could keep up on the action while half asleep. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the things we could've needed to cook with - pots, pans, cutlery, cutting boards, spatterguards, sieves, colanders - you name it, it was there! Plus a kettle, dishwasher, coffee machine, microwave, etc. so it was easy to make basic meals as needed. Really loved the bonus touch of some chocolates and water left on the table when we arrived - much appreciated after the long drive from the UK.
