Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMy stay was too short !!
Amazing! I was a female solo traveller The room was spacious The bed super comfy The shower better than any power shower The mini bar better stocked than any hotel The balcony and view the best ! The taxi driver who took me up was very infornative vehicles people motorbikes everywhere but everyone gets on!!! No one shouting or pushing like in Uk..!. But the motor bike taxi's...id go back for that experience!! I travelled with at least 6.. all exceeded expectations. From the young guy with heavy base playing making me laugh... to the night guy who took me on a mini tour... to the morning guy who took me to the Sheraton and checked i crossed the busy rush hour traffic .and not forgetting the one who took me to the cafe on the beach !! Oh and the onr who took me and my very heavy case and two bags.. and I'm no lightweoght... down to catch a cab checking i was ok all the way !.. And thank you to the young guys from Mirante ..who carried my bags to the motorbike without even asking.! The drum practice was also an added bonus good to see young people carryimg on tradition and being involved in the community and not glued to any phone or ipad !!!

United StatesThe noise. There were parties going on hosted by the property's club on Sunday, or street party by locals until 2am. So the noise was so bad for me to go to sleep.
Was a unique experience to stay in Vidigal. Had a great view although the weather was not amazing for me to see the clear ocean/sky. Also felt safe and staffs were friendly trying their best to communicate with me in English with Google translater.

FranceThere is no restaurant (at the time we stayed), the shower was nice but the water couldn’t go away easily, I guess the pipe system was not very good. The hotel is located very high up, so don’t be afraid if you have to go all the way down the favela (nice hike tho)
The view is incredible, the room, the breakfast

FranceAccess to the location is not easy. Despite the hotel provides with instructions, additional service from hotel to get there would be nice to have. Finally, as the hotel is isolated, a pool would be nice to have.
The view and the service is great, breakfast to your room very complete and delicious. Party at rooftop is also great with the show and the service level. The facilities of the hotel have the good vibe and the room is very romantic.

France- The staff doesn't go above and beyond for you. Although the young lady was very nice, her boss was absolutely unfriendly and didn't try to accommodate any requests. - Bad taste: The view is absolutely amazing but they put an ugly sticker on the main window. That's perfect to ruin all your photos. - It was not that clean. Stains on the towels. Stains on the window. - there is no bathroom, just a shower with the toilets in it. - FYI: you need to take a mototaxi up and down everytime. It's a very fun experience but I'm not sure everyone would love it. It costs 10 reals each way per person. Finding a mototaxi at the top of the favela can take a bit of time and it can feel quite dangerous.
One of the most beautiful view of the planet! A unique experience in the Vidigal favela.

United Statesconstant construction noise, when there is no construction–the music blasting (if you are a digital nomad, you won't be able to concentrate), everything covered in black mold, no taxi apps, it was hard to get a cab out there, no food delivery apps, little to no food options around, was not worth the money (paid over $100USD per night and checked out a night earlier bc of the above)
the view was nice some of the staff were very nice

United StatesI didn’t like the surround of this property. It was very difficult to get there and get out there 。 Road and street conditions were terrible. I booked this property for two nights but I only stayed for a One night. I told a receptionist when I was checking that I decided to just stay for one night and will check out next morning(I and receptionist communicating with computer translation). There was nobody at reception desk , it was a house keeper took the room key when I checked out next morning.
The room was nice. But Booking information for this property is not completed and misleading. I thought this property nearby to beach when I looked at the property picture on line, but it was located on the top of the hills

South AfricaEnded up not staying due to the location being inaccessible needing go take motorcycles with heavy luggage or local taxis up the steep hill. It was raining and the cars could not make it up the hill due to wheel slipping in the rain. This inaccessability was not marketed in the descriptions prior to booking. I booked a secondary accommodation instead. Despite asking for a fee waiver for the cancelation I have not heard back from them. I do expect a refund

United StatesIt’s a scam. The hotel instructed me to take a shuttle from a different hotel at the bottom of the most dangerous favela in Rio. The hotel we were instructed didn’t exist. It was also impossible to speak with an actual hotel staff member. There only form of communication was through WhatsApp. We never even made it to the hotel for fear of being harmed or robbed. Now the property isn’t responding to any attempts to contact them for a refund. They ruined my honeymoon. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.
