How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Wish there were more hooks in the bathroom and that hostelers were more careful to not track in so much sand. Also wish there were larger, sharper kitchen knives. Would also be great if there was compost & recycling.
The people who stay at the hostel are all super cool. The host, Pandora, is super knowledgable and helpful. I loved cooking and hanging out with hostelers, especially locals. The bed was super comfy. I loved all the hammocks and the availability of kayaks. The dogs were cute and friendly too. Also, sunrise is right on the beach!

It's like in the pictures, a bi room with all beds and no privacy but it's the best price/quality ratio in town for sure

That I couldn’t stay longer, and generally about Placencia, that all the activities are rather pricey
Pandora and the rest of the staff are super nice and really easy going. They have kayak’s and snorkeling gear for you to use and made me feel instantly welcome! Located right on the beach it’s so worth the visit!!!

Lovely little hostal located on the beach. A simple 10 bed dorm with lots of space for everyone. The kitchen was useful and the staff/owners were always at hand to chat with. Very clean and several useful equipment to use - canoe, bbq hammocks.

I didn't realise that the room has 10 beds, so it could get quite noisy early in the mornings. No shelf + power plugs next to bed and also no curtains for the upper beds. There was nowhere to get changed in the showers without getting everything wet.
The room is practically one room with 10 beds and it was easy to connect with other travellers. WIFI worked well at the hostel. There are lockers. I appreciated the kitchen and the drinkable tap water. Staff was friendly. The hostel was clean at all times.

Be great to have some daily activities to get people socialising together in the hostel or recommended food places etc.
Right on the beach, chill out areas and hammocks. Comfy bed - one dorm. Amazing hosts, super communication and kind.

Best location in Placencia! Comfy beds, great kitchen, steps to the beach and close to all needs in the Village! Great owner easy to communicate and of course super safe. Highly recommend for any length of stay!!👍

Dorm room only has fan, so it gets a bit hot sometime for me. Upstairs can get noisy sometime with children and animals.
Few steps from the beach! A single dorm room with 10 bunk beds. Bathroom inside the dorm room. Plenty of space to chill. The dorm room gets clean everyday.

Excellent location, right by the beach. The kitchen is well equipped and the dorm is spacious. Lidia was an excellent host and looked after us really well, we kept coming back!

The doors need to stay closed to keep mosquitos out. Can be noisy if people stay up. Thicker pillows needed.
Can be a very social place with the right people. Close to a nice bay for swimming. The showers are excellent. The WiFi is also good. Nice staff but not always around. The food from their kitchen is super cheap and great. Excellent fans per bed.

Very easy check in. Large lockers for bags. Fans over every dorm bed that can be controlled easily. Kitchen was well stocked and clean. Right on the beach. Superb location 5 minute walk from bus stop and water taxi.

Excellent location, not far from the best beach which doesn't have any seaweed. The owners run a shack offering Fry Jacks, Burrittos, Tacos etc for a cheap price. Plenty of space in dorm, big and small lockers, good showers.

Homely feel - more like people sharing a house than staying in a hostal. Central and right on the beach. Pandora the host was very helpful. A great stay.

Sand flies. Wouldn’t book this for more than 2/3 nights
It’s a cheap hostel where everybody seems to look out for each other. Therefore it is quite social. There’s not a lot to do in placencia, so if your ready to ‘hammock’, this is the place. Note that it’s a 10 bed dorm so it can be noisy/snory… its a wooden house which isn’t really soundproof. Toilets are in audible distance. Owner knows everything and is helpful! Kitchen is ‘ok-ish’. Enough to make breakfast.

Toilets bit dank.kitchen minimal but adequate . Both clean and functional
Pandora is a gem!. She has lots of good info to happily share.And she is generous and fun to hang out with. It's the only affordable place on the beach,and well worth the price.Great perks like kayaks,snorkel gear,beach chairs,umbrellas . All the regular dorm stuff.good marresses,pretty linens,really good towels and lamps.huge lockers. Close to everything including bus. And,again,Pandora couldn't have been better.
