How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Nice clean and tidy hotel. Only a 20 minute walk into old town where there's heaps to see and lots of eateries.

Parking 20 CHF plus room tax. I did not see that parking was so expensive in advance. But at least the garage was safe and led directly into the hotel.
Clean, comfortable beds. Nice for a short, 1-night stop with the family.

Slightly out of the way, but only a 20 min walk or free bus service gets you back into town.
Clean, modern and provided everything that was required and there was a nice bar which was great when we simply wanted to chill at the end of the evening.

Location Is bit away from main Basel SBB train station and currently the Tram line 14 is closed for some tracks work around the Hotel location. It is not the hotel's fault and you can still easily walk for about 20 mins from Basel SBB if you have less luggage to carry with you. Nearrest bus stop is 8 mins walk from Hotel which provides some connectivity (not on Sundays). When the Tram starts working again in ealry 2025 the Hotel is very good budget hotel.
Clean rooms, courtious staff, good view of the city, overall...value for money.

The house keeping staff started shouting and vacuuming next to our room and we couldn’t sleep bc of that

The room could have been cleaner, specially the bathroom. The mirrors and floor was not clean
Perfect for a short stay. Great Staff - they are all super friendly and helpful. The rooms are amall but confy bed and has all you need. The breakfast is also really nice.

We only stayed for a night so i can not comment on many things. The hotel was fine and quiet and the staff quite helpful.

The location wasn't ideal. It took 10-15 minutes walking from the hotel to the nearest public transport station in order to get to the train station. Travelling with big suitcases may find this walk annoying or difficult.
The room was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Mattress wasn't too comfortable.
The staff were very friendly. The rooms were well noise insulated which helps get a good night's sleep.

The room is not dirty but used. It may be because the space is not too big and the guests damaging the painting.
Nice view and good breakfast. The staff was friendly and well informed.

When we got to the hotel , late in the evening, we met the rudest receptionist ever!!!!We were with our 7 -year-old son, exhausted after a tiring flight, she didn’t even look at us at first, kept introducing data in her laptop, after a while checked us in, and she “forgot”to give us the Basel cards, which was supposed to do.I asked for them and again her grumpy face, I felt as if it wasn’t our right to ask for them.All this happened on 14 th August 2024, this year!It was the most embarrassing situation ever!!!Because of her behaviour I wouldn’t give 5 stars to the hotel, only 3!It is how much her behaviour affected us!!!!The rest days, the staff at the reception were very polite and helpful.
It was very clear.Good quality breakfast, the beds were hard , but comfortable for us.We got the Basel card, which was a bonus.Nice staff at the reception with one exception that I’m going to write about at the negative parts.Excellent water pressure from the ninth floor with some amazing views

The air conditioning wasn’t cold enough for a hot few days of 33/34 C weather.
It was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Public transport was close by.

Room was a bit small but it was ok for one night. The bathroom door didn’t close because it didn’t fit the frame.

The only issue is the location. Because of construction works it was really hard to get to the hotel by public transport.
It's a very good hotel for it's price. Everything was good: beds were comfy, breakfast good, staff helpful.

We stayed at this property just one night as we passed through Basel. The room was clean and tidy and had air conditioning which was great. The property was only a short walk from the station and other facilities (pharmacy, bakery ect). The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and we were able to store our bags until it was time for our train out the next day.

Walls were not clean in hotel room, not many options on the menu for food at the restaurant as they only served pizza
