How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It was good in every respect. The weather was hot and so the window was open all the time onto a busy road, it could be noisy early morning and weekend. Not the hostels fault.

Room was a little crowded and needed better air-conditioning. There was only an old fan.

This was the case in my room, I don’t know about the others: The lockers were on one side of the room, next to someone else’s bed. It was not the most practical place for lockers, as you have to kneel down next to the other person’s bed to access them.
The breakfast was really great. Also the kitchen was good to use and a place to interact with other visitors. Bed was very comfortable

Some guests are loud. Weather is hot, we have to open the window. People are shouting in the streets below, cars honking in the night.
Free breakfast in a large setting. Near the center of Geneva.

the other girls in the room were rude and turned the lights out on me as I was prepping my bed but the hostel isn’t responsible for the behavior of their guests lol $45 taxi ride from airport

The outlet was on the ceiling, so the phone charger kept falling. Also, for the water to come out of the shower, I had to press a button every 20 seconds.

it’s kind of very ‘hot’ in summer even with all the windows open, I barely slept and I am sweating very much in the middle of the night 😅. I got to stay at the 3rd floor womens section room. And the breakfast is boring 😅, I’t would be nice if you add eggs on the menu. 😅

Long line waiting at the reception when checking in and only one personnel working at the time.
Clean place, within a couple of minutes walk from lakeside. Shower facilities good. Nice lounge area next to reception.

The checkin process was quite slow, we had to wait in line for one hour. The room is a little hot. Breakfast is okay but not so many options.
The bathroom is very clean and organized, the shower is pretty good. The safes with electronic locks are pretty useful.

shower room was not always clean.. 😀
The staff after midnight was kind enough to call a taxi for me. I needed to arrive st the airport by 4 am. The facility was well-equipped and of great safety. I want to stay here again in the future.

Giving low on facilities because it was hot (weather) and there was neither air-conditioner nor fan in the room. It was even difficult to sleep during the night for the same reason. Rest, the facilities were fine.
The location was excellent. Generous breakfast. It was clean and got friendly people to stay with! The best thing, the stay comes with a transport card which gives you free access to the bus, tram, train, and ferry (in zone 10). There is even a dedicated reading room which was useful if someone requires silence for study/work.

A few young men were not using the shower booth cleanly. However, considering the character as a youth hostel, such a situation could happen.
The breakfast was nice. The amenity around this hostel was good, too. The staff were voluntarily ready to help guests. If there be another chance to visit Geneva, I will choose this hostel again.

I have nothing bad to say about the property… however there is nothing to do in Geneva… it is an expensive overpriced city… even eating maccas is more expensive than most meals I’d pay for back home. Do you research before travelling here. I thought I’d stay here on my way down from Paris to South of France, to say I’ve been to Switzerland… definitely don’t do that… Switzerland needs to be done properly and there’s not heaps to do in this city.
A really great hostel with absolutely everything you’ll need as a backpacker. Loved the self serve breakfast, it was awesome.

Almost everywhere needs your access card. It is safe but sometimes inconvenient.

Storage options could be improved. I wanted to keep my luggage there for few nights until I come back. But they refused. Not so good that I had to take my luggage to railway station lockers and cost me more money.
Good breakfast and value for money, also the pass card covers all doors, locker and barhroom.
