Check in only opens at 2:30...which is nothing strange. But between 11 and 2:30 there's no bag drop available. I arrived in Lucerne at 11:30. So I couldn't do anything as I had my luggage with me and had to wait for the hotel to open again. A bag drop would have made things much more convenient.

I absolutely loved how central this hotel is. I was able to return to my room multiple times in a day, without it really taking time out of my planned activities. Dropping off souvenirs, taking a short rest after Mt Pilatus...and even just stopping over to change into dry clothes...the location is perfect. For European standards, my room was actually quite spacious. The breakfast was the same every morning, but satisfying and served beautifully. Should I ever visit Lucerne again, I'll be back!

location, walk into Old Town. parking building across the road (expensive but handy). Basic rooms with own bathroom. Towels/sheets provided. Beautiful breakfast. Restaurant on site, helpful staff, clean rooms.

The room is spacious and clean. Big wash area. Value for money. Most attractions are in walkable distance. Hotel location is well connected with bus services from main railway Station. Descent breakfast. Staffs Lisa and Florian are very courteous and helpful. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Lovely big room, very clean and the most comfortable beds, pillows and duvets. Our room was in the annex which is located just near the river so excellent location to all amenities. We stayed whilst the Christmas markets were on which we just at the end of the street. Beautiful town with lots of shops.

Could relook the breakfast menu, we ate the exact same thing for 3 days straight.

Clean and fits the four of us (2 adults and 2 kids) as well as 4 large luggage. It is only a 10 min walk from the main train station and very near the old town and chapel bridge. Everyone is so friendly!

The reception closed at 1700 in the evening. We are unable to ask for much assistance such as kettle for hot drink. Breakfast was provided on each table as opposed to what we thought in a buffet style, for which I think is a waste as not everyone of us will have bread, jam or cereal in the morning.

The room is spacious and clean. Value for money. Location is slightly further away from main train station, would need to take the tram if you are travelling with large luggages.

Having to get dressed to get to breakfast room, but the upgraded room was worth it. The safe was difficult to operate and we couldn't use it. Chose not to contact the manager.

We got an upgraded room in the annex, so we had to walk a block for breakfast, but the room was very nice. Room was quiet, adequate breakfast, in the old town, about 7 minutes walk from train station. Detailed review in TripAdvisor.

Martin was extremely helpful, hospitable, generous and kind. He upgraded our room and we were so appreciative. The room was spacious, view from the window lovely, and close to the river and sights. And the breakfast was a perfect European delight.

Modern hotel, central location, very friendly staff. Warm greeting at the reception door when we arrived and given a free room upgrade as it was off season. Included breakfast was great and well sized for a big eater like myself.

- The curtains were too thin. No blackout to keep the sun out in the morning. - Hot water was scarce. It took a master combination of moving the knob back and forth to get hot/warm water. Never thought I would shower with cold water in Switzerland. - The mattress was not very comfortable. My husband ended up with back pain the morning after. - The pillows were so big and flat that we had to fold them in almost 4 to be able to use them. Too flat and very uncomfortable. There's no heating- but luckily, it wasn't too cold during our stay, just a bit chilly. I cannot imagine staying there during January or February at the peak of the Swiss winter. A nice to have would be windows that could block the noise better. At night you can easily wake up - every 30 minutes - to the bells of all the churches in the neighborhood. I guess it's just part of the experience of traveling to Lucerne. I try to avoid leaving negative reviews, but these are such easy fixes. Guests go to a hotel to sleep. We were not looking for luxury but a decent shower, bed, and breakfast. Luckily the breakfast was good, but the hotel could provide a more comfortable sleeping experience by international standards if they would only change the pillows, and curtains plus fix the hot water issue in that room. I was surprised that when we checked out, no one asked about our experience. It's like no one cared.

The food was excellent but we felt ripped off by the waitress who came to the table with two open bottles of wine which led us to assume they were included in the price. We were not offered the chance to see a wine list, which other tables had later.

Good location except the name on the outside of Goldener Stern was confusing.
