How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Confusing entrance, go through restuarant. No option of breakfast although it was a restaurant. Bed far too big for room, I kept kicking my leg on the corner which is really sharp due to 6 inches of room. Duvet was smaller than the bed.
Clean and tidy and in main old town.

Worth considering the proximity to central drinking areas - there was quite a lot of noise at night, although only really audible with a window open!
Good location, comfy bed, adjacent transport links. Breakfast perfectly fine.

Very small room and tiny shower. A bit hard to find as the first floor is a restaurant and entrance is in the back.
Great location. Comfortable bed. Clean. Decent breakfast. staff were very friendly.

The room was smaller than expected, it was so hot in the room you had to open the windows and then hear all the noise from outside, one of the waiters wasn’t very friendly and the hotel steakhouse food was way over priced and not very good

Excellent location in the old town and within easy walking distance to the main station. The room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was good.

Second time staying here and this time differed from the first. The check in staff seemed disinterested, there is mould between the bed and the bed side table and the cleaning staff walked into my room in the morning while I was in a state of undress, despite me saying no when they knocked on the door. Value for money is poor here!

Well, not their fault, but the tiki bar across the plaza is really loud and that goes fairly late. So, if you want, ask to be on the other side of the hotel. But, there was nothing to dislike about this hotel. The price seemed high to me for what it was, but I think that's pretty much a Zurich thing, and again not their fault.
It's within walking distance of the train station, and in a cool part of town with just about anything you need around you. The hotel was pretty quiet on the inside. I had very little interaction with the staff, but they seemed like good folk.

It was near a few bars and restaurants that were open late into the night. The crowd noise was pretty constant until after midnight. Closing the window mitigated the noise. But to be fair, the sounds were happy sounds and did not bother us.
It was centrally located. Easy to walk to various sites and numerous restaurants. It had an elevator to facilitate hauling luggage up several floors.

The staff were not the most welcoming, the guy in the morning was almost like Basil Fawlty 🙁
The room was clean, but a little small. It was in the centre of the Old Town and ok for two nights.

Bedding was insufficient. No top sheet. Top cover was smaller than the top of the bed. 1 horse blanket in closet. What human wants to sleep with a horse blanket? I used small top cover and my husband had to use the bed decorative runner. I had read reviews dealing with this—- found it hard to believe — however please understand you need to bring your own blanket.

Included breakfast, but it didn't start until 8, so we missed it.
Good location in old town. Basic, clean room. Fine for one night stay. It had air conditioning. Expensive for what you get, but this is Zurich.
