Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaPart of a Steak House so smell of meat there . Would not be a good choice of accommodation for vegetarian or vegan travellers.
Tram to and from Train if you knew where to catch it . Taxis are a rip off .

SingaporeShowering height was low. Constant reminder to lower head while entering the shower facilities. It will be good if we can keep the luggages longer than 3pm as our flight was late at night.
Air con facilities and electric kettle which our hotel in Lucerne, Zermatt, Interlaken didn’t have.

FranceThe bathroom is quite small, the sink was not functionning correctly (but it was fixed during our stay). We were on the 4th floor under the roof so it was hot and the AC was quite noisy. There is no room to keep luggage after you checkout.
Good location in the historic city and not far from the main train station.

United StatesThe staff was not welcoming but did work very hard to service the restaurant. no reception desk, you entered through the restaurant & got your room key from a waiter. I’m sure I reserved 2 twin beds but got a double bed room. It did have an elevator & a/c which was a plus!
Location was convenient to the sights & trams & boat taxis.

HungaryPersonnel working there are not the most friendly - Swiss German style. The mix of the business between hotel and restaurant was strange. They only mentioned on the last day you can use a back entrance to avoid walking through the restaurant.
Good breakfast. Great location in centre of old town. Clean room, although small, was enough for 2 days.

United KingdomThere was a street festival taking place with a DJ booth set up right outside. Very, very loud music until 2am making it impossible to sleep. Not the hotel's fault, but they could have warned us. Not particularly friendly...had to ask for coffee at breakfast rather than it being offered. Then had to ask again for a refill. When paying £180 a night I would expect better service. We wanted to leave our luggage on checking out as we had an evening train, but were told we had to come back and collect it at 2pm, no idea why.
Great location, comfortable bed, breakfast was Ok.

United KingdomOur adapter plugs for UK appliances wouldn’t fit into the plug sockets in the room as deep set into wall. However on mentioning this to the the proprietor, he lent us an adapter which did fit. Just something to be aware of. On arrival we entered through the restaurant entrance ( off the street) rather than the back entrance ( just a door) but when coming in later after being out, were told we had to use the rear entrance, not sure why?
Excellent location, clean, & met expectations. Within walking distance from train station. Air con worked well. Breakfast good.

United Kingdom1. The 'Way-in' - it's through a door at the back of the Hotel, which I can only describe as like going through the 'Tradesman's entrance'. The area surrounding the door is a bit ....... as you are at the back of other bars or restaurants. However I had no problems (see attached photographs). 2. Reception - after four rings of the bell, a gentleman opened the door and let me in. Next time I'll just enter by the front door of the Restaurant. 3. Staff - after the Reception formalities, the only other staff member I actually saw during the week was the gentleman serving breakfast (on two occassions at Breakfast another Gentleman - the Manager? - was seen). 4. Breakfast time - I was told 0730. When I asked about flexibility in timing 0730 came back as the answer. I actually have a message reply from the Hotel saying it was from 0715 and I think this was the case. 0700 would be better (well for me anyway). 5. Computer/Printer - I did ask if I could use the one in the Restaurant to obtain my return Swiss boarding pass, but I was rebuffed. There does not appear to be one for Guests to use, though one previous review said they had been able to use a computer/printer (not having a i/smart phone can be a problem).
Good location, only a few minutes walk from Zurich HB (only two stops on Tram Route 4). Loads of places to eat and drink in the area. Room was good, with a comfortable bed and enough room (and a complementary bottle of water). The air con worked which meant I could keep the windows shut, which completley blocked out the noise of the surrounding bars and restaurants (being on the third floor helped). The Bathroom was OK, with an instanteous hot shower. Good towels as well. As I was leaving before Breakfast on some days, the Room Fridge became an invaluable tool and was used extensively (whilst avoiding the MiniBar items!). Breakfast was OK, with hot food in the form of scrambled/boiled eggs available. The choice was a bit samey but was good (would have like some rolls though). Did not use the Restaurant attached to the Hotel, so cannot make any comment. Despite what you are about to read, I would stay again, mainly because I now know the routine.

United StatesA/C was not available and the room was kind of warm, so my only choice was to open the windows which also let in a lot of noise from the very active street below. If the room lists A/C, it should be available for use.
