How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Everything was great, it's a pity that the hotel does not have a parking lot, but there is an underground parking lot nearby, which cost about 25 euros per night.
Pleasant staff, beautiful room, wonderful toiletries and chocolates on the pillows :)

It is a very stark room. Clean but not homey. No hooks in the bathroom to hang valet bags. Nothing in the room to place our bags -had to leave them open on the floor
Breakfast was very good but not worth the the cost. Staff was very friendly.

It would be great to have a few hooks available at the room entrance, handy for hanging coats etc. And please replace the old fashioned coat hangers with normal ones.
The location of the hotel is great. Breakfast offers variety of food options and doesn’t disappoint. Staff is friendly and always helpful.

Not enough towel bars. With Wi-Fi we should have been able to get internet channels on the Smart TV, for example senders like Tele Basel in Basel.
We liked the breakfast. A little pricey. From the SBB train station it is not to far, but do not try to walk there, much to complicated. Take bus 30 towards Badischer Bahnhof, one stop and you are ten steps from the front door.

Great location just on the edge of the old town and easy walking distance to all the main sites plus Basel SBB station. Good sized, comfortable rooms and easy check in and check out processes. Complimentary Basel Card included with stay as with most hotels. Tasty breakfast, if very expensive.

Very bright, clean and modern rooms. Comfortable bed, didn't hear any noise from the street or neighbouring rooms. The breakfast was delicious, the stuff was very friendly and fast. Conveniently located about 15 mins from airport and next to the old center. Basel card included in the room stay is a big plus. The hotel is not huge which makes the stay so much more pleasant. Good air-conditioning.

The only thing I would suggest for them is that they add somewhere to rest after using the sauna. I suppose you can just go to your room, but it would be nice not to have to do that.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the location was fantastic with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby, the rooms were modern and clean. I would definitely stay there again.

An excellent place to stay in Basel. Stylishly outfitted with lots of light in the rooms and a spacious bathroom. A sizable breakfast spread and a gym/sauna I wish I had had time to use! Will certainly try to stay here again my next visit.

It's difficult to say what I didn't like, maybe a small observation regarding breakfast: including more options of different types of bread and more variety of fruits. But this is just a personal taste, as compared to other hotels in the same category, this hotel is superior in breakfast.
Great location with easy access to public transport, the center of Basel, SBB station, and also close to bars and restaurants. I have stayed at this hotel more than once and I highly recommend it. The rooms are very clean, with good showers with very comfortable beds.
