Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

A nice place on 10 minutes walking distance from the center. The shower was hot and the bed was nice.

IrelandRoom was very small, not really any room to open luggage and move around. Location is ok but still a 15 minutes walk from town. These things weren't major negatives for us just more of a minor inconvenience and we don't mind walking to town
The shower had hot water. Bed was comfy. Everything was fine. Can definitely find better but at the same time if this was the only thing in your budget or only place left it would do the job.

AustraliaKitchen facilities were very basic and not well explained in write-up, thought breakfast included. Rarely saw staff that could deal with issues.
Quiet location, close to a shop, and top verandah had a nice breezy outlook. Took credit card for payment.

SerbiaThe internet was very poor, possibly because the place is located in the desert, and the only thing we could do with the internet was send text messages. The room was quite dark, but it didn't bother us since we didn't spend much time there anyway.
The accommodation was more than we expected for the price. The hosts are ready to help with anything you need and are very kind. The room is clean and has everything you need for a stay of a few days. If you're planning to visit attractions, you won’t spend much time in the room anyway. Shops and restaurants are close enough. Overall, I would recommend this accommodation.

NetherlandsThe walls are thin so it can be a bit noisy. Luckily the other guests staying there were all polite, quiet people so it didn’t bother us too much while sleeping. But our room was next to the kitchen so when people were having dinner and talking we could hear everything.
Good quiet location and yet not too far from the bus station. Has a mini market around the corner and restaurants and a French bakery nearby. The room was spacious enough for two tall Dutch people, the bed was big and comfortable (had some of the best nights of sleep there!). We stayed a week here, mostly to recover from everything weve done in Bolivia, and it was perfect. Everything was clean. Kitchen is well equipped and there is more than enough space for dining. The staff is amazing as well. The owner and Gina, the receptionist, are very kind and assistive. Celia the cleaning lady is an absolute sweetheart asking every day if we needed our room cleaned. We recommend this place!

NetherlandsThe hotel could have it's name on the outside to make it slightly easier to find. The decorations were ok but als caused the room to be a bit dusty. Pillows could be better. Also airco would be nice.
The place is ok. It's about what we ended up expecting in Chile. Staff was friendly. There is a kitchen you can use. It is also close to some restaurants and shops.

VietnamA basic hostel that is great value and a comfortable stay. We stayed 3 nights with a shower/toilet en suite - the room was small but comfortable and serviced daily. The area is nice and quiet and less dust, being a 10 minute walk out of town. Adequate, clean kitchen, with commonly needed stuff. Friendly owner.

BrazilThe location is not perfect, it's about 10 minutes walk to the city center. To be clear, it wasn't a problem for us, but some people maybe would look for a place more close to Caracoles Street.
I strongly recommend you to stay at Katchi. Incredible value for money. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We needed to do a change in our schedule while we was at the hotel (the round trip to Bolivia was rearranged) and Joel was extremely comprehensive and did the changes with no complaints at all.

United KingdomThere was some confusion over payment of iva (peruvian tax) on the booking. As a foreign national we had not paid this anywhere else in Peru and understood that you usually did not if you paid by US $ or a foreign credit card. However, the matter was resolved with the owner.

United KingdomThe WiFi wasn’t the greatest in the evenings when most people were in their rooms.
The rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Plus the showers were hot with good pressure. Its only a couple of minutes walk into town, all the tour companies can pick up from the door, and there’s a couple of small shops nearby to get drinking water or snacks.

AustraliaNo common area (there is a shared kitchen though), or outside seating area/patio/terrace. But the property is currently still under construction, so there might be improvement.
Super clean room. Crisp, brand-new bedsheets & cosy blankets. Clean bathroom with hot shower. Very friendly and helpful staff, despite the language barrier. Room was simple (no TV or AirCon), but done up well. Good budget choice if you are only coming to San Pedro to do some tours in the area and don't feel like sharing a dormitory.
