Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeI recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel and was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional service provided by the staff. From check-in to check-out, every interaction was warm, friendly, and professional. The front desk team, particularly 媛媛,妮妮 and 林艳 went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and convenient. The housekeeping staff kept my room immaculate, and the concierge provided valuable recommendations for local attractions. What stood out most was the genuine kindness and willingness to help from every staff member I encountered. Their dedication to providing outstanding hospitality made my stay truly unforgettable

United KingdomBreakfast was good but only Chinese (not western) and we weren’t offered a vegetarian option - this may exist but we didn’t like to ask as it had already been put in front of us. No choice you just get a tray of items put in front of you - albeit these were very nice!
The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable, good location not too far from a subway (10 min walk) and lots of little independent shops and restaurants on the Main Street nearby.

FinlandThis is a more Beijing quality, but due to the moisture and the building structure there can be a bit of moisture in the air and to me it reminds of a smell of moss. Also, little bit pricey, but worth the money for me, especially when traveling alone.
The location, room aesthetics, staff helpfulness, the atmosphere overall 10/10. Also appreciated that breakfast was more local. It is normal that the taxis don’t drive in the Hutong (as many people complain here) but I didn’t find it to be an issue when I used DiDi and either way it was easy enough to find from the main road.

SingaporeThe door couldn’t lock properly, needed some force to get it done. Pillows were too soft and some days I woke up with a headache.
The hotel is well located, a short walk or DiDi ride to nearby attractions, yet the neighbourhood is quiet enough for a good rest. The property is quaint and has all the right vibes. Breakfast is fantastic and staff were friendly and professional.

LuxembourgThe breakfast is a not great and the fact that the rooms in the back face each other with big windows is strange. You have to keep the curtains closed. Like many places in China smoking inside isn’t banned, so there is cigarette smell in the toilet.
Beautiful small hotel where tradition meets modern comfort. The staff were lovely and it’s in a quiet street but close to public transport and shops.

United StatesMy family stayed at Heyuan Courtyard for 5 nights, all of us loved this charming Siheyuan. The unique allure of this place deeply touched me, and I wish to pay homage to it with this ode. This Siheyuan is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. It is steeped in an old architectural style, exuding a sense of ancient history both inside and out. However, upon entering the private living space, you would discover a modern soul beneath its antiquated facade. With innovative designs and advanced facilities, every detail reflects meticulousness and taste. Moreover, the Siheyuan houses a dedicated tea room, integrating the elegance of Eastern culture into daily life. Be it a tea ceremony or a casual chat with friends, it brings tranquility and joy to your journey. The service quality here is unparalleled. The daily breakfast is a feast for both the eyes and the palate, featuring Western bread and coffee, as well as traditional Chinese pastries and tea, meeting all my expectations for a breakfast. The service staff exude warmth and their professionalism, kindness, and dedication create a homely comfort and warmth. The location of the Siheyuan is second to none, situated close to Tiananmen Square and the subway station, making it extremely convenient for travel. I can effortlessly explore every corner of this bustling city. Yet, the moment I step into the Siheyuan, the urban clamor fades away. This Siheyuan stands as a testament to a remarkable blend of traditional and modern comforts. Whether in terms of accommodation or service, it has left a profound impression on me. I strongly recommend everyone to consider this Siheyuan as their choice of stay when traveling in Beijing, as I am confident you too will create wonderful memories here.

United Arab EmiratesLocation is in a hidden Hutong not very friendly to reach at night and car was not able to access the alley and we got stuck for 30 mins. At night they close the door early and put a paper on the door to call a Chinese number to open, considering people might not have a Chinese phone like my case is not very. Cleaning and facilities are to be improved a lot, for example this comment I saw in booking and I can confirm kids drawings on the wall not cleaned or stains/water leaks on the wall not fixed. The key of the room was useless as did not close the door so our room was open all day. For the price you pay is way too expensive compare with other hotels in Beijing
The courtyard being on an old Hutong is lovely. Staff despite not speaking English are very helpful and did their best to accommodate our needs, as the room does not have fridge they put our medication on the kitchen fridge.

GermanyIf you come after a long distance flight and experience that the taxi driver refuses to drive into the narrow Hutong street and you have to carry your luggage for 10 minutes to the hotel this is not a positive experience. It would have helped if this had been communicated upfront so arrangements could have been made. The place is more a B&B than a Hotel, room was not cleaned daily and beds were not made during our three nights stay, we only got fresh towels. Room was spacious and nicely decorated but had some terrible mold spots on the two walls which made our stay uncomfortable. The hotel is offered on Booking as an international platform but non of the staff is capable to communicate in English. Without Google Translate we would have been totally lost. All in all the hotel is too costly for what it offers.
Somebody who doesn't want to stay in one of these big faceless big chain hotels will definitely like this place. Tucked away in one of Beijings Hutong's the place itself is exceptional and very unique. Staff has been extremely friendly and helpful. Our Alipay did not work in one of the places we went for a cocktail and they settled the bill for us and we could pay it back to them in cash.

FinlandYou pay for the traditional setting, otherwise the hotel is over-priced. The surroundings are relatively quiet, but the hotel is only as quiet as the other guests. The sound insulation between the rooms is poor, and depending on the location of your room, you may here people walking up and down the steel stairs leading to the roof terrace and about the courtyard. Most other guests seem to be Chinese tourists who spend time in taking photos using the hotel as a picturesque setting. The rooms are hot if the weather is hot, and cold of the weather is cold. The lighting system in the rooms is most confusing (you have to choose the Winter setting in order to get all the light out). A very serious oversight is the lack of an extra emergency exit. The only way put leads to the front door, and if the narrow corridors leading there are blocked by fire or smoke, you are trapped.
Location is good, 25 minutes walk from Wangfujing and less than 10 minutes walk from Dongsi Metro station, but be aware that taxis may not be able/willing to drive into the narrow alleys, so you have to walk in order to get to the hotel. Also be aware that the location of the hotel may be incorrectly marked on some websites! The hotel has a nice atmosphere due to the traditional buildings, and that is why many events seem to take place at the hotel. This may cause some disturbances. Breakfast is served as a simple Chinese set, consisting of gruel, buns, pickled vegetables, and fruit, in a slightly different combo each day. No other hotel facilities (restaurant, bar, room service) are available. There are tea making utensils and a kettle in the rooms, but no refrigerator.
