Great place! Comfortable and clean rooms and extremely helpful and accommodating staff! The cocktails in the bar are also delicious :) Can definitely highly recommend staying there!

No take-out coffee and no coffee at all in the early morning. The wifi connection was poor.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Sonderia Hostel. We especially appreciated the great help of Nicole in organizing tickets and for restaurant recommendations. The location of the hostel is great, and the coffee very tasty!

You can leave your important stuff at the reception but the locker in the room don’t have a key. It wasn’t a big problem since I knew all the people from the hotpot party 😂

I loved how the staffs were very friendly and kind. Luckily, the date I stayed had a hotpot party and met lovely people. I even made friends 😊 and hotpot was delicious!!

We had amazing time at SONDERIA in Chengdu. The room was comfortable and we enjoined many services of the hostel. All members of staff at the reception are exceptional. They all speak fluent English and are very helpful. A special thanks to Nicole who helped us in many things.

Hostel is fantastic. Location is close to the subway and a ten minute walk from Wenshu Monastery. There you can find tea houses, restaurants and great places to walk. Also within ten or fifteen minutes walk are many restaurants and a large mall. The property itself has a great bar and cafe located inside it. You can get a great breakfast there made by a very skilled ayi cook or you can get coffee prepared by one of the workers there. The lunches made by ayi are also unbelievable. The coffee is amazing and you can get it free between 9 and 10 am. The cleaning staff on site is so attentive and make an effort to make your room clean and comfortable. The room I had was fantastic—it had a huge window and a bathroom and was well priced. What makes the place special is the staff. Michael is a kind and thoughtful guy who always will make everyone feel listened to and keep the conversation going. Green is very funny with lots of jokes and humour. Damon is a fantastic manager. Laura is a fascinating person who will discuss many interesting topics with you while she makes a delicious coffee and she will go out of her way to help any customer. She will guide the group during a dumpling making or a hot pot party and everyone will end up having a great time. Fiona and Amber are volunteers there who light up the space with laughter, helpful local advice and sparkling conversation. And for me the person who made my stay most special was Nicole. She always has a smile on her face, cares so much about the customers, will shower attention on children, and creates a feeling of comfort and happiness in the hotel that is so unique. She will resolve any problem the customer has quickly and carefully and is totally committed to her job. Nicole is an excellent local guide as well so if you want to get to know real Chengdu life this is the person you should ask. Overall this hostel is a special place—a bit magical if you ask me.

Loved it all.

I was travelling with my family, which included two children. Nicole was simply amazing. She gave extra care and attention to my children over and above what was expected. They loved her and have heaps of cuddles. We booked a whole room so we didn't need to deal with others with the kids. Worked our perfectly. Great location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Nicole certainly made the stay that much better, just hee friendly nature :)

The staff were very polite and helpful and friendly. They did everything from booking taxis 🚕 to train tickets and organising tours. The bar was a pleasant place to have a relaxing drink 🍸 in the evening. They had 2 volunteers named Fionna and Amber who added a great atmosphere to the place. Would recommend this hostel/hotel to all my friends who are thinking of staying in Chengdu. Best of luck 👍 to all the staff and volunteers in the future.

The hostel is in a nice neighborhood, staff speaks English and is super helpful and friendly. All attractions are in reach. They offer free hotpot and dumplings parties and the bar and its barkeeper is amazing! The rooms are quiet and have ac. There’s even a small gym.

The staff are extremely nice and helpful. Reception is available 24/7 for check in. The place is run by a team of young guys who are going the extra mile to make foreigners feel at home. Some of them speak very good english and are very knowledgeable about their city and region. The manager Damon and his all rounder helper Michael are great. They spend a lot of time with their guests making the Chengdu experience great. They organize tours and also some themed nights like the hot pot night and dumplings night. I don't usually go to hostels but I must say this is a great place. Apart from dorms there are plenty of single and double rooms with aircon, private toilet and hot shower. Rooms are big and beds are comfortable. Great value for money. There is a bar with very good beers and cocktails that runs till late. A little gym and laundry. Close by plenty of nice local places to eat and minimarts. The temple is only a few minutes walk from the hostel and very Chengdu Attraction about 20 minutes by Didi or Taxi. There is also a metro station not too far away. Overall a great experience. Will definitely recommend and come back! Great job guys. Keep it up.

Bathroom and room are separated with very thin glass, almost transparent, a little bit strange but wasn't such a big problem. The rooms maybe need a renovation, a little bit old, but still the room for it's price is super comfortable

Hostel is super nice. We lived in standard room with own bathroom, bed sheets were clean, everything overall was clean. The stuff was amazing, would always help us with any questions, bought SIM card, it was very helpful at the moment. The patio is super nice and comfy to rest. There is really nice bar near the lobby. Overall, the stay was great

The room was rather dark at night, an extra light above the desk would have been handy. The bar was rather expensive.

The hostel was lovely. I had a double room with bathroom, and it was a decent size and incredibly good value. The whole place felt cosy. The staff were great and there was a nice smoking area in front. The coffee was really nice and free between 9 to 10, or 5 yuan if you wanted a cappuccino or caffè latte. I didn't know they did food all day, but it looked very nice.

There is no Sonderia hotel at Google maps. You have to settle the Google Maps location))) it is important for foreigners to see you on google maps and be able to find you there. Please, try to do so

I am so greatful to Sonderia hotel, i felt really home 🏡 1. First, i booked a hostel, but nice lady at the reception - Niwle - helped me to upgrade it to the nice better single room. Room was nice with AC, tea pot (tea or water are not provided), clean, silent. Instead of key 🔐 there is an electrical key 🗝️!! I liked it 2. I liked it very much, because it is the only hotel in China, where they speak in English 😃! Oh, it is so important! One week i have been travelling and noone speaks english! And here this lady Niwle and also another person Damon, both know English! Feels so good! 3. Damon helped me to book ticket to Leshan Budda, and Niwle helped me to organize my Panda trip, she also helped me to call a taxi. There was another helpful guy in the morning, unfortunately i do not know his name. What i want to say: the hotel is amazing!!!! I am very grateful to all of you guys, thank you 😊 may Buddha bless all of you! + 1. Hotel has a good location near the Wenshu monastery, i walked there at 6am, was very nice. 2. Near the hotel you can find Walmart!!! Amazing! Big market where you can buy whatever you need, thanks God! 💞 3. AC worked very cool 4. Internet is absolutely perfect, which is very very important 5. Downstairs the hotel they have amazing atmospheric bar, so cool, made of wood, very pleasant 6. Near the hotel there is a lady selling street noodles only for 12 cny, and it is very tasty 7.
