Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was very small and a bit shabby / could do with a refresh. The bathroom has a glass door, so there was no privacy. The air con wasn't great so the room was too warm, even in March.
Great location just off Nanjing Road by People's Square. This hotel / hostel has good facilities, including a laundry and small gym. The bar is cheap & open 24hrs & they kindly let us check in when we arrived at 9am! Check out is also until 12noon.

RomaniaHowever, the room was extremely small. There was barely any space to move, and we couldn’t even open our suitcases on the floor—we had to place them on the bed to unpack. It felt very cramped, making the stay quite uncomfortable. Another major downside was the bathroom design. It had a glass wall, offering no privacy at all, which was really inconvenient. The breakfast was also quite disappointing. You could choose from three options, but none of them were particularly good, and the selection was very limited. Overall, it’s an okay experience for a short stay of two days since you’re in the city center and can easily walk everywhere. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for a longer stay due to the lack of space and comfort.
The best thing about this hotel is its location—it’s very well positioned, making it easy to get around the city. The staff was also very nice and accommodating. They even gave us four vouchers to get soft drinks from the fridge during our two-day stay, which was a nice gesture. Additionally, we had complimentary water and soft drinks in the room, which was a nice touch.

PortugalThe entrance to the hotel/hostel is quite messy and dirty. It doesn’t resemble a typical hotel; rather, it’s a large building with rooms that have either private bathrooms or bunk beds with shared bathrooms. The breakfast options need significant improvement. They offer three types of “breakfast”—Swiss, English, and French—but there are no clear signs indicating these options. Additionally, basic kitchen supplies like salt and pepper shakers are missing. Be cautious about the city tax, as they tend to charge more than expected. Always verify the amount before making your payment.
The location is ideal, located in the heart of the city and very convenient, with everything either within walking distance or easily accessible by nearby metro. The receptionist was very kind. There are numerous restaurants and malls right by the hotel/hostel.

Hong KongThere could be more breakfast options. The 3 given are more or less the same in terms of food. As this is a hostel plus hotel, don't expect to have a quiet common area in the evening, when it is very crowded and even noisy.
It's very close to the underground station of People's Square (Exit 19). (But the Amap suggests getting off at Nanjing Road East station, which takes a much longer time to reach the hotel.)

United StatesStayed at this same Dayin at the same time last year but in the dormitory. This time, booked a private room and was incredibly impressed with how spacious and sleek it was. The private bathroom was a blessing and very nice, fully stocked with amenities. The light fixtures throughout were modern and inspiring. The room comes with a small fridge (complimentary drinks such as soda/water/tea bags provided) and a large flatscreen Smart TV. To top it off, the bed was cozy and view through the massive window was awe inspiring. Great service at the front desk was provided by the gentlemen Long and Jing Yi Shi. I was even given a couple of vouchers for a free breakfast and beverage (they have a grocery store-sized refrigerator section of beverages, including alcohol. Great time staying here and will return for a 3rd time. As with last time, great location and lively common area near the reception/bar.

FranceOther hotels do the same thing, but the glass wall for the WC leaves very little room for privacy 😅
Excellent value for money, comfortable bedding, perfect location for visiting Shanghai in a lively tourist district (but quiet room). The staff are efficient and very friendly, with an excellent level of English. We had a plumbing problem in our first room, and within 10 minutes we were moved to another, larger room at no charge. Very satisfying breakfast, room/bar on the first floor with drinks at unbeatable prices for the area. Perfect for a solo stay, a couple or with friends.
