Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyMy hotel room had a combined toilet/shower with all the inconveniences that come with it. The drain didn’t get rid of the water as fast as I would have liked to. My hotel room was lacking any large enough table.
Location. Outlier character of premises. It’s more of a history museum than a conventional hotel. Some people I came across there were quite memorable. You will not shake the feeling you didn’t sleep in an ordinary hotel.

United StatesExcellent stay in a historical part of Qingdao. The staff had good communication and let me arrive early (6am!) since my train arrived at 5:15. I enjoyed breakfast and worked online until my room was ready at 10:30 (normal check-in time is 12:00). The “Finland Room” with working sauna was great! My 12 year old son enjoyed the museum-like / Nordic atmosphere. Only a few block away from the beautiful “Taiping Bay”, boardwalks and beaches. Dinner options (and live Jazz) across the street from the old Belgian consulate turned restaurants is a good option. The staff cooked an early breakfast for me at 7:30am and we made our 8:48am train back to Beijing with no problem.

This was my first visit to Qingdao and upon my arrival to the hotel, the staff was very warm, friendly and accommodating. Although there was a bit of a language barrier at first, we did manage to communicate well enough to finalize my reservation. The room was very lovely and had a serene calmness to it. The facilities in general were a historian's dream as I literally felt like I was living in a museum (even just for a few days). The decor, wall photos / hangings and other relics walked you through a timeline of the former consulate giving you a sense of what it must've been like in the past. While several amenities have been upgraded, it still managed to preserve the "old" style. The breakfast was nice and the fresh seasonal fruits were absolutely delicious and sweet! I enjoyed every morsel. I really enjoyed the location as it was walking distance to several restaurants and scenic spots. You could easily enjoy a walking tour in the area and visit the many neighboring European-styled villas and walk over to the beach on the other side. The boardwalk was a nice stretch along the bathing beaches and a great backdrop for amazing photography. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Qingdao for a few days along the beach in a quiet, yet bustling tourist area.

SwedenSmall items need to be improved. E.g. one lamp had no bubble. Network TV is slow. Etc.
Perfect location. Very close to the beach. Convenient to go back for a shower after kids play on the beach.

EstoniaMy biggest issue is that it's NOT a No Smoking hotel. Whereas the room was okay (though there was a faint smell of smoke there too), many people smoked in the common rooms, including the breakfast area. The breakfast was pretty basic - two slices of white toast, two slices of spam, one fried egg, some cabbage and a few pieces of fruit. For what you pay, one would expect a bit more.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel is quite well designed and our room was spacious. The hotel is located within 500m of the beach, subway and bus, and it's in a historic area with many cafes and restaurants. It's a bit pricey but it is a unique place to spend a few nights. Light breakfast is provided.

ChinaThis hotel is located in a beautiful old villa in a green, quiet residential area, a few minutes’ walk to the sea. The villa has many of the old details like beautiful wooden floors. The rooms we had were spacious and clean and comfortable. It was fantastic to be able to sleep with open windows and feel the sea breeze. The front desk person in charge, Ayaj, was wonderful and extremely helpful in everything. We unfortunately do not speak Chinese, but we communicated via translation apps and this worked fine. He made sure we loved our breakfast and walked us to a covid-test centre nearby so we could comply with the covid-rules and test us on day1 and day3. We enjoyed staying in this hotel where history is taken care of and where you, as guests, feel welcome in a charming and personal way.

ChinaThe breakfast was convenient as you can eat it in your room, and this is very comfortable. For the price it was a little disappointing. We received one fried egg, two pieces of very lite toast, 4 pieces of grapes, 2 small wedges of watermelon, and two small wedges of cantaloupe, one cup of coffee, and two slices of canned meat, with about a small teaspoon of a black berry preserve. The berry preserve is absolutely delicious. The breakfast is edible and filling but i was hoping for a better variety or quality for the price.
The location is really great! It was the former embassy for Norway and Finland. A five minute walk to the water (500 meters). The area also boast some very interesting establishments, beer lovers, sit, drink and smoke cigars near the sea, etc.. The walk to beach #3 along the seaside while viewing the scenery and the rocks was very intoxicating and relaxing. We also visited Zhongshan park which is about 2 km away and rode the chair lift into the upper portion of the mountain.

United StatesThe upkeep of this special property can be better. The design and "bones" of the house are great, but facilities, including the flooring / windows are aged. Parts of the house feel more utilitarian than homey (esp with the fluorescent lighting at the check in). You wish there was slightly more love in taking care of the house. As with a lot of Chinese minsu, the professionalism of service varies, but again, owners are nice. It's pretty costly in terms of value, but tbh during tourist season, all the big hotels are charging astronomical rates. This spot is in a quiet part near Badaguan, and a short walk to a less-than-busy part of the sea, a short walk to subway, so well worth it if you want peace. The best time during the trip was spent reading a book at the little inn.
Being the old Finnish / Norwegian consulate, this property is pretty special. It's like a little cottage house out of fairy tales, with a short walk to the sea. Owners are friendly and enthusiastic. Breakfast were an elegant faire, just enough, and definitely better than a mediocre buffet at a big hotel. Breakfast was also different each day out of the three days we stayed. Rooms aren't spacious, but big enough, and every room is unique, but access to the whole "house," including different dining rooms on the first floor, and a cool attic with books on the third floor, makes it feel very homey. Instead of eating out, we just ordered in and took advantage of the dining rooms and feel of home.
