The walls in the rooms are a bit thin, so you can hear neighboring guests, but everyone seems to be considerate and keeps noise to a minimum at night. Overall, it’s a charming place to stay for those looking for something different!

Staying at this hotel was more about the experience than comfort, but I loved the opportunity to sleep on a traditional kang bed—it’s a unique experience that shouldn’t be missed! The hotel is conveniently located just a few streets away from the tourist areas, making the surroundings pleasantly quiet. While the hotel offers a simple breakfast, the real highlight is the hospitality of the owner and his wife, who are incredibly sweet and helpful in guiding you around.

Hu lu wa is an enchanting traditional house in the middle of the old city. The atmosphere is breathtaking. The owner and his family were super kind and they gave us great tips to make the most out of our stay. Absolutely recommended!

Rooms are around the inner courtyard of the building and you hear everything just keep that in mind and prepare yourself if you have a light sleep.

Amazing little hotel. Away from the most trafficked streets therefore very quiet. Still a few steps away from everything (Pingyao is small but it might get very busy in the evening). The owner speaks very good English and he is super helpful. He will give you all the info on where to go, and eat and the best deals! The room was a good size. The breakfast is traditional Chinese, amazing for us! Very good quality for money. Thanks

The owner, he was very helpfull with everything. He tried his best to speak English and helped with the places to go. Also, I had an early check-out, but made sure I had breakfast. Finally he took a scooter so he could take me to the gate voor a taxi.

The bathrooms are small with shower wetting the whole bathroom. Not a problem for me but some may not like that.

A traditional Pingyao family home inside the city walls but away (5-10 minutes walk) from the busiest tourist part of town. The hosts are lovely. I stayed 2 nights. The first night I was the only guest and I met the family’s delightful 11 year old twin daughters. All in all a great place to feel part of an older China.

The staff are very friendly, and helpful, the owner gave us lots of useful advice and tips, due to some circumstances, I called the owner for help after we left the Inn, the owner rescued us by meeting us with his two lovely twins and help book a taxi, we would have missed the train without the owner’s support.

Nothing to complain about

The owner of the hotel is very kind and goes out of his way to satisfy every wish of his customers. I was given a map of the old town with the owner's recommendation which attractions I should definitely see and where to eat (he even gave me some discount coupons to his favourite restaurants). The hotel is in a quiet part of the old town, but close to the main street. The interior is quite nice.
