The description described our room as a suit, but it turned out to be one room with an open loft above, accessed by a steep stairs, not the privacy from each other we expected. While the bathroom was clean and functional, it really could do with a rebuild. WiFi was hit or miss.

Simple Palace is in a great location for a tourist, in a hutong-like neighborhood. Just inside the old city wall, which you can walk, and there is a street market every day that emphasizes artwork and art supplies. Staff is very helpful and made us custom coffee every morning. This is the antidote to a boring high-rise chain hotel. Rooftop patio with interesting views was very nice.

When they warn you it’s loud- I’m not sure I could have fully comprehended the sound. We had 2 units and they certainly warned us about the noise- my fault for not heeding the warnings. We were there F-M and the bars/clubs party until 7am. Yes 7…. The DJs seem to go extra hard from 6-7 to the point where our bed was actually vibrating. I travel with excellent ear plugs and even this woke me. Again we were warned & they give you foam ear plugs but I’m not sure the average human can comprehend the weekend sound. This again is not their fault, just something to be aware of. The courtyard & rooftop would be wonderful in warmer weather, not too useable for winter/rainy weather. There is laundry & an area to hang it but no dryer. Just FYI- our laundry too 2.5 days to dry due to the cold and rainy weather. There wasn’t a full room service while we were there but they did come and empty the trash. Our suite had an awkward layout with the toilet and shower being tight in the main room with the table. Unfortunately the fan in the bathroom is not working and the smell from the drain was pretty intense. I sound like i didn’t like the place- it was honestly fine. I wouldn’t stay there again due to the noise but would find somewhere on the opposite side of the entry gate to the wall where it seemed to be a bit quieter.

The location is both a benefit and a curse. It is just inside city walls & very close to action and very walkable. The people are very nice.

Our room was described as adjoining "suites," but the second bedroom was actually a loft up a steep stairway. No breakfast (but an excellent variety of coffee made to order was offered every morning).

Excellent location in ancient section next to ancient city wall, very helpful staff, interesting, appropriate interior design, street market in the area every day. Good base to explore Xian and catch a tour bus to the Terracotta Warriors.

great place, inside ancient city, by the south gate and very close to the Xi'an walls. the staff was really great, helpful and full of little attentions (coffee, directions, arranging tickets, bus or taxis) our room was even upgraded for free.

It was a bit more noisy in my room during the weekend because of the bars around the place. But it was ok, because I knew about it when I booked the room. And the owner also told me about it when I arrived. He even offered to upgrade my room for free if I find it too noisy.

I really liked the house, it has a nice rooftop where you can chill. It overlooks the ancient city wall and the neighbourhood. The street has many Chinese art shops and traditional Chinese houses. The location is also very convenient as it's close to the city wall, metro station and various banks/atms. The owner helped me arrange the airport pickup and drop off. And even helped me carry my luggage to the second floor. The staff also cleaned the room every day.

Tastefully designed loft apartment, clean and comfortable. Next to South Gate of Xi’an City Wall, a good location to travel to other parts of Xi’an. Host was friendly and helpful.

I will never recommend this place. It sits next to a pub. Music lasted for the whole night and only stopped at 6am, even though the owner said it would stop at 2. Super noisy. I only slept for 3 hours Even after I took a sleeping tablet. Then I heard people arguing on the street. It became quiet for a little while aftrr 8 o'clock. If you like dancing for whole night. You should stay here. There is no heater next to the bathroom and toilet. It was winter time. After I took a shower, my body was shaking. I had to pass the hall and jumped back to the bedroom. There were no heaters outside the bedrooms.

The location is convenience but is not suitable for accommodation.

The location. The room - a spacious apartment with 2 bedrooms and a living room. The rooftop overlooking the walls (we couldn't get enough of that view, morning and night). The owner, Linda - she let us leave our luggage there on departure day, invited us to tea and had a very interesting conversation with us! We'll definitely be back!

The music from the bar nearby. The curb to the toilet and shower room can be a little dangerous, especially when it's wet.

The place is beautiful, clean and comfortable. The staff are very thoughtful and helpful. Would definitely come back.

Amazing staff, very kind and helpful. We loved hanging out at the top floor, the view was beautiful. Traditional decoration and ambiance. Great room arrangement with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, made it easy to accommodate our larger party. The location is very convenient too.
