Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SlovakiaI travel a lot and have never had such a good hotel experience. Everything was perfect, from the free pick-up at the train station, where we got water right away, to the amazing atmosphere of the hotel and the luxurious rooms. The owner of the hotel knows how to make his guests feel at home, he helped and advised us with everything, he prepared an excellent breakfast every morning and on the day of departure he also gave us a card to another hotel room so that we could use the bathroom, since check-out was at 14:00 and we left at midnight. At the end of our stay, we also received a gift - excellent attitude, clearly the best accommodation of the entire stay in China. 100% recommended

United KingdomThe host gave 12 out of 10 service! He was very hospitable, quick to respond to messages, and always here to help. He helped us arrange a transfer to the pier for the ferry for a fair price. The rooms were spacious, nice views of the surrounding areas. It was a little outside the main city, but no problem to reach the main sights with 10min taxi drive. Walking distance to the flute reed cave. The breakfast was plentiful. Would certainly stay again!

The host is so nice and friendly. He could arrange and do whatever you ask for if possible. He always prepares a delicious breakfast with free Fruit and also provides a gift when I was leaving from this stay. The room is neatly, clean, well design and also has a great mountain view. He did a free upgrade for us when we were checked in. It is recommended for whom like the nature and simple village life style.

United StatesThe outside bathtub was quite dirty at check-in, washed myself to use. The view from the bed was not what I expected from the pictures (no direct view).
Charming and homey little place with a friendly and helpful on-site manager. The Chinese noodle breakfast was very good. The outdoor clawfoot bathtub was cool.

United StatesIt was not the standard five star hotel that I would normally stay at, but the place has a lot of unique charm And the guy who runs it is five star. He took care of all of our needs and helped us out as we scrambled for the train station. Not super fancy, but I would stay there again. If you’re looking for a more localized, charming feel, I would give it a try

CanadaThe hotel is charming, located in a very quiete and peaceful location, walking distance from the Reed Flute caves and a short taxi ride to the town centre. Since we were staying 2 nights, they picked us up from the train station which was very helpful. The room and washroom we stayed in was very clean and well furnished. We are very impressed by the owner's hospitality and generosity. When we arrived there, we were welcome with smiles, oranges and tea. They offer assistance with tours in the region and transportation. We must mention two things that we are grateful that the hotel has exceptional quality for its services. First, we asked if it was possible to reduce our stay by one day, the owner had no hesitation to accept our change. Second, as we left early from the hotel room in a rush we forgot two personal items in the room. The owner contacted us right away and arranged the delivery our items to our new location more than an hour away. We highly rate and recommend this hotel.

United KingdomThe room could’ve done with some modernising and repair work, but still a very comfortable stay.
We had a wonderful stay at the Secret Courtyard in the lovely quiet village of Lujia, close to the Reed Flute Caves and only a convenient 15 min taxi into the city. The host always went out of his way to help us and make our stay really awesome. Super helpful and friendly with great local recommendations and day trip tips. ChileA charming boutique hotel with traditional decoration and modern facilities. Nice breakfast served in the morning. The hotel is a pleasant walk away from the Reed Flute caves but requires transportation to reach the city center. The hotel arranged for someone to pick me up at the railway station.
