Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GreeceThe room and bathroom was very basic, but did the job. No electricity or lights after the sun goes down, except a couple of solar powered lamps. Great starting point for hikes and you can pay a motorcycle to take you part of the way to the best spots.
Basically, this is for those who like a wild and primitive experience, feeling like you live in the "jungle" for a night or two. Lovely hostess and such a beautiful spot with natural pool.

FranceThe tents have seen better days, but they are serviceable. People in the village charge 5k pesos for passage.
Little campsite in the middle of the forest. No wifi, no cell coverage. There is a swimming pool. You can walk to the calabazo entrance rather easily. No electricity but you can charge inside the house.

United KingdomWe loved it, but might suggest camping guests bring a mosquito net for double protection against bites.
Beautiful location, very friendly and welcoming hosts. Quiet location with just the sound of frogs in the night, we found it relaxing. You can see lots of wildlife without even leaving the hostel, including monkeys. Close to the quieter park entrance and a short walk to the ticket office. Clean room, shower with a view. Very tasty breakfast (one of the best we’ve had so far on our travels) was included - we would stay again!

ColombiaI mailed and called, and didn't get any response. But when you realise you're staying with a family that lives in the jungle, you put that aside.
If you want to stay in the jungle, with humming birds, big beetles, that the owner catches and puts in your hand for you to hold, nice pool to cool off in, staying in a bamboo hut with insects of the jungle, no traffic noise (just the odd motorbike) . A tough walk to the San Juan beach (for me) but not the owner. If you want to stay somewhere that has no Internet, mobile data, cold drinks machine, TV, alcohol. But has peace and quiet, and the most adorable young daughter who can put a smile on anyone's face. This is a place for you. A short bus ride to Tayrona N.P entrance. Start your journey from Calabazo. I would stay here again. 🤓

GermanyThe couple who work there were a little bit weird. U don’t know if u bother them or it’s okay to ask for something. Maybe it’s the language barrier, but we can speak spanish, so we don’t know. But they are not rude, u can say friendly on their on way. If u need the generator, tell them. And they sleep in the hammocks in the night, that’s awkward, because u don’t want to use two of the four hammocks, because it’s their bed. Also the kitchen is very dirty, could need a big cleaning action, but u can use it. The „water filter“: we are not sure if it’s really work, but for us everything went well
The location was great and so close to the park (but only if u want to do the big loop). It’s very quiet there and relaxed. They have a great natural pool to cool down. They offer chairs and hammocks to chill. When u come late in afternoon u not have to pay the entrance fee, only a little fee to use the road.

United KingdomIf you take it for what it is, a place to disconnect, relax and enjoy excursions into the park it's pretty much perfect. Kitchen could be a little better equipped (another couple of chopping boards, knives, extra pans with lids etc.)
Amazing location in the jungle (almost in the national park itself), the night time soundtrack of frogs is incredible! Double room was comfortable and cool. Outdoor kitchen available for use functions well. Staff are helpful and even offered my partner lunch with them (for free) while I was out hiking and she rested for a day. No electricity unless you ask for it in the evenings, it is delivered by generator so unless you really need it, more pleasant to do without the noise. There are some solar powered lights around the property that provide light in the evenings without the need of a generator. Enjoy being disconnected and immerse yourself in the sounds and smells of the rainforest!

United StatesAnnoying locals trying to extort you for random amounts of pesos at the main road. I understand paying a toll for road maintenance and to drive a car up it or take a mototaxi. But one of the guys just kept saying random numbers between 5-25000 COP and coming up with dumb excuses for why we should pay even if we were walking up not driving. Even the moto taxi drivers looked annoyed with him. We ended up giving him 5k so he would shut up. Not the hostal's fault but something guests should be prepared for.
Its hard to explain how peaceful and beautiful this little spot is. Lots of wildlife sounds at night and very tranquil feeling. Kind and helpful hosts. Gati and Julio were great and the dogs were adorable and sweet. Super close to the park entrance and they provide breakfast so you can get up and get hiking quickly. The spring fed pool is great to cool off in when you get back from hiking. If you get up early and take a walk to the park there's a decent chance you'll see monkeys on the trail.

GermanyReally nice local hosts. The place is in an remote place around 15 min walk from Calabazo in the direction of the national park. You already have the impression that your in the park. I really recommend this place. You are of the crowd, which comes through the main entrance. The food was really delicious and local, for a very fair price. Thanks a lot for the great time !!

BelgiumThe least welcoming hosts we've had in Colombia. They were not talking to us, even though it was just the two of them and us. We almost felt like we were bothering them. We asked if we could eat there in the evening (as they had explained to us 2 months before) but they replied that it was not possible and that we'd have to walk to the village. As we didn't feel like walking 40 minutes go and return on a wild, rugged road in the dark, we didn't eat at all in the evening and were hungry. The next morning, they didn't even ask us what time we'd like breakfast, even though it was included in our reservation - luckily we got out of there quickly and had breakfast with the organizers of our hike. Also, we couldn’t use the main swimming pool because they were busy cleaning it. To sum up, there are surely many better places to stay in Calabazo than this one.
It was a stop at a convenient location before our 3-day hike starting from Calabazo. The place is cute and quiet.
