Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainIvan was an amazing host. He helped us a lot considering we had to book at the last minute. The decoration and creativity were incredible, it got my attention so much detail. The location is next to the river and the beach just in front. Amazing views. The philosophy of keeping the area as a natural reserve is the biggest point for me.

Netherlands💦No warm water (not a big problem since it’s hot outside, but good to know) 🍔 Restaurants are not at walking distance, so most nights we settled for eating at the hotel. The quality of food at the hotel is good, but options are limited.
💦 Natural swimming pool in the river 🍳Good breakfast with several options (amongst which super yummie banana pancakes) 🛏️Big and clean room with outside bathroom. In general the estate is very spacious. 🚚The room was a bit away from the road, so at night you would not hear the trucks (though I can imagine that in rooms closer to the road you do hear that) 👫Friendly staff of which some spoke English 🌴A free tour among the estate was included, during which we got to plant a tree! 📍10/15 minute busride from palomino (be aware that busses only run till 6 pm, at night you need to take a mototaxi which is a bit more expensive)

A charming hotel in a peaceful setting and beautifully kept grounds. The staff, particularly Jose, were friendly, helpful and polite. A delicious breakfast was served each morning with a smile plus free tea, coffee and filtered water was available all day long. The beds were comfortable and everywhere was very clean. The veranda was spacious with comfortable seating areas and hammocks. A little far from anywhere, but the local bus to Palomino (about 8km away) runs every 15 mins right past the hotel gate and the gatekeeper will flag it down for you.

CanadaMake sure you bring bug spray - you can buy some on site but we found it did not work at all. We also requested private transport from Santa Marta which was agreed upon. However, the morning of we could not get in touch with the hotel at all (via booking, whatsapp, or call) and had to make our own arrangements. This was a little bit annoying after a 6 hour bus ride as we had agreed with the hotel on these arrangements (thankfully hadn't pre-paid). Like others have said, La Jorara is located right off the main road so you can hear cars/trucks passing by. We didn't find this an issue with where our room was located. In terms of things to do, there's options on site but if you want to go out to eat or be in a lively area, the hotel didnt' seem to be walking distance to much so you would need to moto or bus. It was very quiet when we visited but we enjoyed the tranquility of this!
We were in awe as we entered La Jorara. Tucked away between Santa Marta and Palomino, the grounds of La Jorara are incredible. Each building offers a variety of different style rooms, for varying budgets. There is a mirardor (look out) on the property (just a short walk up a steep heel), private beach access (wouldn't recommend swimming at the waves look terrifying), and a natural plunge pool that is open to both guests and the public. Lots of opportunities to learn about the Indigenous ways of life as well. Our room was completley made out of wood, giving it a real juggle feel, and was incredibly spacious with an outdoor washroom. We were happy to just sit in our room, or on one of the hammocks and watch the birds and wildlife. The breakfast was plentiful and staff members were eager to help us.

United StatesIn all honestly, I cannot come up with anything bad to say about La Jarorá.
Absolutely everything. I won’t go into much detail right now, but everything about the hotel was simply delightful. Food, accommodations, location, staff, and even the atmosphere of the place. Who I believe to be the manager, even went as far to personally greet every guest and go out of his way to make sure everyone feels comfortable and accommodated. The two nights my family spent there was an extremely memorable experience, and it is safe to say that La Jarorá is one of, if not the best hotel/resort I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in.

Very friendly staff in a very special and beautiful accommodation, with nice food and much nicer and interesting than what you read at Booking: it is a farm and they give you a tour and you can plant your own tree. There is waterfall and a short hike to a view point, but also they have nice games to play with the family- we enjoyed it very much!!!

SwitzerlandSet apart on 120 ha, with hiking trails into the mountains, a spectacular overlook pirched atop s hillside with spaces to rest, a natural pool by a small creek, and access to a beautiful private beach, La Jorara offers a serene, lush, green and comfortable environment to just relax and unwind. It's accommodations are great and more attractive than the pictures show.

Very clean room with an amazing jungle view and private outside bathroom. The staff is also very kind and helpful, the food is very nice and the restaurant has many options (including a few vegetarian ones). Finally the surroundings are amazing : there are waterfalls and very beatiful natural swimming pools (you have to request a guide at the réception to help you correctly find the way), as well as a very nice private beach. The view from the mirador is also amazing. Thank you !

GermanyThis was one of the - possibly even THE best hotel experience of my life & I can’t wait to come back asap to this peace of PARADISE ON EARTH!!! 😍😍😍 Come here, if you are looking for: - lush, virgin jungle meeting quiet, empty sand beaches - rooms with showers/pools opening to the jungle or a bungalow directly ON the beach - a beautiful experience sustainably immersed in the most beautiful nature - amazing activities in the surroundings (Tayrona, river tubing, flamingos, …) - privacy & quietude - spending hours in a hammock high up in the jungle - the loveliest, most helpful & attentive team 🫶 - being treated like a VIP 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Don’t come here: - if you can’t live without the internet, because the connections in the whole region are not strong or stable. But honestly, you don’t need the internet, anyway. Just listen to the jungle & ocean sounds and immerse yourself in this amazing nature. 🌴 Thank you so much, everyone who made my stay so so special & unforgettable & see you soon!!! ❤️❤️❤️

NetherlandsIt is not a major con - but traffic on the close by highway, in particular the noice from buses and heavy trucks, may distort the idyll. Note, however, that most hotels and resorts are located next to the highway. Also, it is a bit off the beaten track.
Beautiful, secluded eco-hotel, some 10 kilometers west of Palomino, with its own natural, refreshing swimming pool in a small brook and its own private beach. Swimming in the ocean is not easy - the waves are (too) challenging. In either case, water shoes are highly recommended. The property is large and very lush - it feels like you are in the middle of the jungle. If you don't drive and rely on public transportation, then it is important to note that the last buses from Palomino go around 7pm. We had dinner in Palomino till 9, and then went back by motorcycle - which was a great experience.

GermanyYou have to be aware that there is a big (!) construction going on until spring/summer '23 - unbelievable much noise because of the generators running from 7am to 3/4pm - we were so upset because it was nowhere mentioned and we payed a lot to stay in a quit area.. We weren't even offered a discount for this problems 🙄 Furthermore, there is a big (!) street next to the hotel and many busses/ trucks passing all day/ night - why hasn't no one mentioned this before in the comments??? 😳 Laundry: they offer an unfair system via piece and not kilo ( underwear/ socks cost as much as a dress?) - the only response we got from a man in charge "Go do it yourself if you are not happy" and went back to watching TV - when I asked another person for the manager he came back in a rude way and said "if you are not happy then leave" Luckily we got to talk to much nicer staff who offered a different room to us due to construction noise and in the end didn't charge us for the laundry since it took almost 48 hours (not traveler-friendly)
Most of the staff was really nice (except one man). I really liked that we got a personal tour through the area when we arrived (to the beach, the natural pool..) Our maisonette room was very amazing - big, two floors, own terrace, big bathroom, nice details.. Ok-food - Cocktails need to be worked on!!! Gracias for the birthday cake!!!!
