How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The close area itself feels a little dodgy (close to park and Museo del Oro station)
Hot showers! Stuff gives a lot of information and tips. Also organizes airport shuttle. Easy to meet new people in the common area, which is comfortable also.

It would be nice to have more vegan/vegetarian options on the menu. But I'm struggling to think of any other criticisms.
The Cranky Croc is a well designed and comfortable hostel. There are great shared spaces, such as the bar/restaurant, lounge area, table tennis, kitchen etc. and the staff are super friendly and helpful (and speak good English). My room was really comfortable, big, clean etc. and the WiFi was consistent and fast. Laundry was quick and efficient. It's a great place to meet people and there are loads of options for tours and other activities that you can arrange from reception. It has everything you need from a hostel.

One of my greatest hostels in Colombia in my 8 weeks stay! So friendly staff, great social area, the hostel own kitchen serves amazing food and they have a lot of tours starting right at the Hostel! Definitely wanna go there again in future. The dorm was not like a big shared dorm. Everyone had like their own separate bed with a wall in between so it seemed to be like an own room! Amazing!!

They didn't seem to have any social events which was not a big deal. I still met other travelers who were friendly
I liked how clean and cozy the hostel was. The breakfast served there was also great.

Fantastic place to stay. Excellent service and friendly staff. The food is great and location is excellent. Easy walk to all the local attractions Museums. Plazas. Supermarkets cafes etc.

A bit of noise, but really pretty reasonable for center of old town on a weekend. A nitpick but I'd definitely still stay here again!

There are table and chairs right outside the private rooms, the hostel gremlins come out at night and sit here, talk on the phone, eat potato chips and play music. It sounds like they are sitting in your room all night. We only had wifi the first evening and it did not work for the remaining 2 days of our stay. Wouldn’t recommend if you require an internet connection.
Good location in the center of town. The cleaning staff are amazing and always making sure everything is spotless.

Room cleaned during my stay.
Cranky Croc is a long-standing fixture of the Bogota backpacking scene. I spent a few days in a single room. The room itself was small and did not have any windows, except a skylight. The facilities in the room were fairly basic with a bed and table. I noticed that the room was not cleaned while I was at the hostel. General hostel facilities are decent and clean. Nice common areas. They use a tab system for food and drink so make sure you know what you have bought.

Absolutely loved this hostel. The staff were so friendly. The guys behind the bar were so lovely. The food was great! Really good breakfast. Close to everything, loads of great tours run by the hostel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Great hostel to meet others

No certains on the bad for privacy. Not all rooms. But my was direct an the restrooms. Very loud.
Really a good, friendly hostel. Good located. And looks so nice. They will help you with everything. That was really great for the first steps in Columbia. Nice Coffee to drink there. Good activities.

Basic but very clean dorm. Big locker next to my bed. Friendly staff. Enough toilets and showers and all very clean. The place is fun but once you get to the dorms you hardly hear any noise, so I slept really good. 100% recommend!
