They should plant a garden in front.

Beautiful building - an elegant old house - with restaurant attached. The owner is kind and intelligent. He and his staff speak pretty good English and a got whatever I needed.

The noise can be bad during the day. It lessens between 10 PM and 5 AM. The security on the doors seems less than sure, but the hotel has strong security and an alarm on the main door.

It is a kind of Boutique hotel, with a lot of style within. The showers were hot and the staff is very friendly helping you transact your business and see the sights. It is very near the Tica Bus terminal.

I thought since it is called “Casa Aldea bed and breakfast” breakfast would be included as it was the last time I booked with booking.com. I was never given the option to add breakfast during the booking and it wasn’t included. Apart from that, everything good.

Nice interesting Victorian house. Lots of character.

Casa Aldea is an older facility with basic furnishings. It's downtown location is very convenient, but makes traffic noise unavoidable.

The staff at Casa Aldea are amazing! They went out of their way to accommodate us when the airline lost our luggage, and were extremely flexible with our late check in and very departure times. The adjoining Italian restaurant serves excellent food and was extremely convenient for us during our short stay.

The place has lots of charm. It was very quiet at night. The convenience of having an attached restaurant. We had a delicious pizza there and the included breakfast there was very good.

I left for the airport at 5:30AM so didn't have breakfast there. The front desk is manned starting at 6AM so I was given the code to unlock the front door, which worked out fine. I also stayed there my 1st night in San Jose & had breakfast before leaving for Jaco beach the next day. Breakfast was ok.

The facilities were quite old and could have been maintained and cleaned a little better. But still, given the price and location, we were not disappointed.

Friendly staff, great location, and a beautiful historic building, at a great value.

Would love to see new pillows, fresh cotton bedlinen and more thorough cleaning to match the beautiful architecture and hospitality.

It's a great community style hotel in a classic Costa Rican art deco villa, centrally located, and with warm and attentive presence of the owner and staff.

The room is a little old, but it is something you're expecting from a vintage hotel. There is hot water in the bathroom, but it takes a little time (~30 seconds) for the hot water to come, so please be a little patient. My room is near the road, so there is traffic noise at night too, but I don't mind much about it.

Breakfast was good, and the room was nice. The building is something you will remember. The host was very friendly understanding, and helpful with my requests (booking a taxi, tour, etc.), and I was invited to a free pizza from the restaurant ("The best pizza in Costa Rica").

The lock on the door of my room didn't seem very secure and was very difficult to open. Also the walls between the rooms were not sound proof at all so noise really carried but otherwise it was a nice stay!

It's an older building, so there is a lot of creaking whenever someone moves. It really wasn't too bad, since everyone at the hotel was quiet-- I was mostly self-conscious in case I was creaking too much! This isn't necessarily negative, but something for guests to be aware of is that you have to ring the bell to go in and out of the hotel. It's a good safety precaution, but it is just something you have to plan around.

The restaurant attached to the hotel is really nice, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I had a nice dinner and breakfast there. I chose the hotel for the proximity to the Parque Metropolitano La Sabana and Museum of Costa Rican Art, where I planned to go for a jaunt before my flight, and that worked out well. The hotel is also in good proximity to one of the bus terminals that can get you to the airport, so I had a really easy time for my last day of my trip. I didn't get to take advantage of this service, but it looked like there were a lot of nice options for day trips supported through the hotel.

Access to an ice machine. For medical reasons I needed ice and the restaurant provided it. But I felt awkward asking.

The authenticity of the home, the restaurant on site, the sangria, the open air concept that really gave you the sights and sounds of the city. The breeze is very comfortable.
