The staff, the property, the facilities are wonderful. The breakfast buffet, while not as abundant as in the past, is just fine. The big weakness of the Barcelo Palacios are the restaurants— the rancho at the pool is good but won’t take a food order after 4 pm— even though the front desk keeps telling people its open until 5. the el bosque bar restsurant—- the food is terrible, really terrible— the sushi restaurant service was really inadequate, some at our table got their food? The others were served literally a half hour later—-thats no good. A hotel of this quality must do better.

Check in was very slow, in fact at first they told us we only had 1 room reserved rather than 3! Had to push back to get them to thoroughly check to then find the correct number of rooms. Also dinner buffet was lacking taste and variety! Don’t think I’d book to include dinner again

Nice, clean, and comfortable place. Lots of traffic noise since its close to freeway. Staff not very helpful or friendly. Weekend prices way too high.

We noticed less cleanliness at the pool area. There was less selection of food in the restaurant buffet. Seemed to be short staffed in restaurants. The shuttle we needed to take us to the airport never arrived, because of accident on highway. We understand it was not Barcelos fault, but we were left to figure things out on our own. Lucky another Barcelo customer helped us out or we would have missed our flight. We also had power in only half of our room when we got up at 2 am to catch our early flight, so we didn’t take showers or have lights for bathroom use.

Check in and out went well. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Shower drained and water was hot. WiFi worked well. The staff were friendly and kind.

The hallways were smelling a bit weird, but the worst part was not being able to connect to their Wi-Fi outside the lobby area. This would've been a huge problem for a longer stay.

Spacious rooms for the price, and generally clean. Decent amount of amenities right within the hotel. The shuttle to the airport was on time and easy to book. Live music in the lobby area was lovely to hear.

The walls are not soundproof so we heard every car, plane and bird outside. Even the people in the rooms next to us. That’s my only complaint.

This property is lovely! It’s spacious and beautiful!! The staff is very helpful and pleasant. The beds are comfortable, the shower pressure was strong and the water hot. We are so happy we upgraded to have premier lounge access! They provided airport transportation, an impressive breakfast buffet and a quiet club lounge where we enjoyed a variety of delicious foods and beverages. I’m so happy we chose Hotel Barcelo San Jose!!

The hotel is close to a dual carriageway, and the windows are in poor condition, so if your room is facing towards the road, you’ll hear the constant traffic noise. Breakfast had abundant choices, but some of the things didn’t seem fresh.

Location- surrounded by very main roads. Though the grounds are lovely, you can't really walk anywhere from it; you need to get into a car to go anywhere, even if it is very close.

Lovely hotel with helpful staff and lots of facilities, including a pool. Great breakfast. We were upgraded to an enormous and beautiful suite, which was really special.

It is the 4th time I've stayed at Barcelo. The hotel is comfortable and elegant. Breakfast very good with a lot of choices. The pool is very nice. It is very clean. I have had 2 or 3 quirks in the system with key cards and internet or forgetting towels in the room. The hotel staff is helpful but sometimes the wait at the front desk is long to fix the mistakes. They may need more staff at the front desk.

It need remodeling, however it has a good potential, but honestly it looks quite old already.

Nature surrounds, open the window getting fresh air, and birds sounds. Good breakfast.
