Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

CambodiaWe called and were told the shuttle would be there in 30 minutes. An hour later we called again and were told it was not coming. When we arrived we see the shuttle just waiting with a driver inside doing nothing. The staff was not apologetic and did nothing to compensate for us being misled about the shuttle. They said it did not come, even though it was right there with a driver because we did not make a reservation. Terrible service to lie and not pick guests up when they were able to do so. The pool was too cold to use. I would not choose this hotel again.

United StatesWhen checking-in was told the hotel had an “emergency” on the floor we were scheduled to be in and there were no available rooms. Barcelo arranged for us to go to another hotel; however, the hotel was not comparable to Barcelo. We paid for a room at Barcelo ($180); however, in comparison, the price of a room at the hotel we were sent to was $77. In other words, paid Barcelo price but did not receive a stay at a Barcelo quality hotel. When we joined our tour group the next day, the porter said that Barcelo had overbooked which is why we were sent to another hotel. Throughout our stay at Barcelo with our tour group we saw others experience the same problem. If you are not part of a Caravan tour, it seems that there is a high chance Barcelo will not have a room available despite pre-booking a room. Barcelo is taking advantage of travelers by having them pay for rooms and then sending them to another hotel. in this process, Barcelo makes a significant amount of money ($100 difference in our case) by charging for services that aren’t delivered and lying to customers by telling them they are being provided a room in a comparable hotel.
The property was nice and well maintained. Appreciated the shuttle ride to the hotel and to the hotel we were sent to due to Barcelo being overbooked.

IcelandThe staff was rude at the shuttle service and the front desk. The pool was freezing cold and pool bar smelled of deep fried food and did not indicate a 5-star hotel. Only two restaurants open in hotel, a Japanese one and a buffet in a conference hall.
We had a large beautiful suite which we enjoyed very much. The bar staff and the staff of the VIP room, on the 6th floor, were great. We recommend getting a cocktail at the bar.
