The location is not great, quite far but it was fine for what we needed

It's not flexible to any personal needs like a later check-in, or earlier breakfast if you are getting late or having an early tour, for example. The locker of the bathroom was broken.

It was a great cost benefit. The house is old but very clean and has excellent price for the location, confort and breakfast included. We had a good, quiet, cozy stay.

Window Screens: Repairing the broken window screens would enhance insect control and overall comfort. Breakfast Options: While the breakfast is delicious, bringing your own proteins and vegetables can help balance the meal. Smoking Areas: Designating smoking areas away from common spaces could minimize the intrusion of cigarette smoke into the property. Power Outage Safety: During a power outage, the electrically controlled door became a potential safety issue, making it difficult to leave the property without a readily available key. Implementing a manual override or ensuring access to a physical key during outages would improve safety. Maintenance: Addressing minor wear and tear promptly would preserve the hostel's aesthetic appeal.

Room Ambiance: Staying in the "Ocean As Well" room, I appreciated the thoughtful touch of naming each room. The bed was spacious and comfortable, and the artistic towel folded into a flower was a delightful surprise. Kitchen Organization: The shared kitchen was impressively organized, with designated food storage spaces and provided pens and stickers for labeling items. The "Free Stuff" container was a great idea, promoting sharing among guests. Breakfast Presentation: The breakfast was both creative and tasty— thick pancake adorned with a happy face made from diced apples and banana slices, accompanied by unlimited coffee. The decorative placemats and tablecloths added a charming touch. Common Areas: The hostel offered inviting common spaces, including an outdoor dining area and a lounge, fostering social interactions among guests. Bathroom Facilities: The en-suite bathroom provided ample legroom for the toilet, a standard sink with cold water, and a shower with both hot and cold water options and strong water pressure on the second floor. Hand soap was also supplied. Additional Amenities: The room had sufficient electrical outlets for charging devices, and the curtains effectively blocked external light, allowing for a darkened room when desired. Host Interaction: Marc, the host, was professional and friendly, contributing to a peaceful and structured environment. His multilingual abilities (French and some Spanish) facilitated communication. Location and Security: The hostel was situated in a safe neighborhood near businesses, San Pedro Mall, and accessible public transportation options like buses and trains. The property maintained controlled entry, enhancing security. Cleanliness and Maintenance: The property was clean, with artistic decor adding to its charm. While some features showed signs of wear, ongoing maintenance efforts were evident.

There's a 5% fee when paying with a credit card. I paid with cash to avoid this, but when I did the exchange rate on my computer, it seemed I was still charged this fee because the final price was exactly 5% more than what booking.com shows.

- My room was clean although the floor was sticky for some reason. - The location is near a commercial center with a mini market and shops. - There's a bus stop nearby that goes to the center or you can use Uber. - Hot water worked well.

The mattress is not the style I like—very soft, where you sink into the bed. The blackout curtains do not block the light from entering the room. Check-in is limited to 10 PM, and I almost missed it because I left Santa Teresa by shuttle on a Sunday at 3:30 PM and only arrived at the hostel at 9:45 PM. If I had been delayed a little longer, I would have had to find another place. The place is very clean; however, the owner decided to wash the stairs at 7 AM without putting up a warning sign. I slipped on the stairs with my luggage in hand and ended up with a bruise on my thigh because I didn’t know they were slippery. I wouldn't stay here again, even with the good cost-benefit ratio.

Good location, value and a really good breakfast. The owner allowed me to take a shower after checkout in one of the shared bathroom rooms before heading to the airport after an afternoon in the city center.

Everything is clean. The dorm, the bathroom and the kitchen. The house seems to be older, but it's obvious that it's been taken care of. There is immediate hot water in the shower. The area is very safe and you can reach the centre of San José easily by bus.

Any request from you will be despised. I request a clean pillow case because it smells used. But I was thrown a pillow without any respect. I had to used my own clothes to cover the pillow as a pillow case.

This was my first time in this hostel. I had a room with private bathroom away from the street and I was quiet after 9pm even though it was full the days I stayed, even though there is no sound proof at all in the hostel. The room smells fresh. I was satisfied so I was back again almost a month later when I need to be around UCR. But the second time was a disaster.

It would've been nice to get some more information, for example how to get to the center or how to travel by bus. It's a little walk to the center (30/45 mins).

The staff was very friendly, the facilities were adequate, breakfast was the same every day but more than enough and had some fresh fruit. The room matched the price; not too comfortable, but fine for a couple of days.

I stayed for two nights by myself, and very much enjoyed the overall vibe of the place. The pancakes in the morning were delicious and the staff were friendly. I will absolutely stay here again if I am back in San Jose.

The guy at the front desk was beyond helpful. He told us about the best restaurant and where to find anything. He helped with the luggage and made an excellent breakfast pancake. He even helped us with uber as the taxis were way expensive.

It is a really cute place, not far from center. We’ve been welcomed very nicely and met friendly people during breakfast (which is, by the way, excellent especially if you like big big pancakes) The bathrooms and kitchen were not extra comfy but super clean :)

There was all the time lots of traffic on the street behind the window of the room and that's why it was not an ideal place for sleeping especially because the window could not be closed. There wasn't any kind of mirror in the room.

This hostel is a good choice for anyone who wants a private room for a reasonable price. The person at the reception was really helpful. The hostel was furnished and decorated in a unique and colorful way.

Can't use the kitchen before 8am and after 10pm cause there are some bedrooms located near the kitchen.

The hostel was kept clean and has a warm shower. It's also located at a walking distance to a mall, Banco Nacional and the bus stop to San Jose.
