We were looking for a place to stay close to the Liberia airport before our early morning flight and this was a wonderful find. Sebastian was the best host imaginable, helping us with calls to the rental car company, and taking us for a walk down to the river and to show us a good place for dinner. The rooms are simple, but clean, safe and comfortable, the property is filled with wonderful plants, and even though it is only a few kilometers from the airport and close to the busy road to the airport, the actual location is in a quiet local village. Highly recommended.

Congo Tempisque is a comfortable hotel where you feel right at home. The courtyard and grounds make you feel like you are in nature due to the lovely plants. Jose is an incredibly kind proprietor. He adopted us for the evening, taking us to local beaches and towns in the area. I couldn't believe how close the hotel was to lovely beaches! It is every traveler's dream to have a generous and welcoming host like Jose make you feel like you are in your home away from home.

Jose was a wonderful host, he offered to drive me to a beach called Panama Bay where the ocean is very calm for swimming and to the Tempisque River. There are only 3 small basic rooms I think, and you share a bathroom. There was a nice new wall air conditioner and a fan in my room. Everything's spotlessly clean. This is a reasonable priced place to stay There is a lovely treed and covered central area for simple meal preparation and eating. It has a refrigerator, hot plate, dishes, kettle, coffee and tea provided. A huge overhead fan brings lovely coolness. I was very comfortable here and highly recommend this place that is only a 15 minute drive from the Liberia airport. Jose drove me to the airport for a small charge at 5 am to catch my flight. I would definitely come back to stay here.

Jose was very friendly and welcoming. He offered drinks and the kitchen for us to cook if we wanted. It was a perfect location close to the airport. He gave us a ride to the airport for a low nominal fee at 5:30AM. Thanks Jose!

Shower was cold

The location was great for our flight to Liberia. Neighbourhood felt safe and there was walking distance to a decent restaurant and grocery store. Jose was a lovely host and made us feel very welcome and gave us a ride to the airport.

Not many food options are within walking distance. There was a grocery store and a few fried food places. This has nothing to do with the wonderful guest house itself.

Easy to find, lovely common space, room AC, secure room, warm shower, reliable WiFi. This guest room had everything I needed for a first night arriving in Liberia as a solo traveler. The fridge was stocked with cold water. I felt comfortable here.

would have been great to have some hooks to hang clothing and towels in the room and maybe a bedside lamp as the ceiling light was really bright. Just some suggestions.

what a great homely spot, close to Liberia and also the beaches. Was lovely to find a Tico owned guest house as a welcome alternative to an airport hotel or a tourist trap down by the beaches.

José and his family are incredibly kind and are a perfect example of the friendly nature of the Costa Rican people. He shared some homemade pinto with us and gave us lots of information that was helpful for our stay. The guest home is clean, comfortable, and safe feeling. It is conveniently located near the airport, grocery stores, banks, and cafes. Highly recommend this place for your first or last night in Costa Rica. José is also a big fan of Canada which was fun for us as Canadians! Make sure to bring cash as this location is cash only payment.

Room was a bit small, but fine for our purposes.

Jose was an amazing host, very friendly, check in was easy. He handed us bottles of cold water as we arrived, and brought us fruit and coffee in the morning. Common areas to relax in, and parking on the property. Very close to airport, car rentals, gas stations and grocery stores.

Wonderful stay at Congo Tempisque. I was able to arrange for an airport pickup and the owner even made me some food after my long flight. The room and bathroom were very clean and the bed was really comfortable, It is conveniently located near the airport and for onward transportation around Costa Rica. I would love to stay here again since they showed such great Tico hospitality--muchas gracias!
