How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The area felt dangerous
The room was everything I needed to catch an early bus the next day but I wouldn’t stay in that area unless I was getting the bus

This was my second time to stay in the hostel. It’s right across the street from the bus terminal where I was taking the bus at 6 am next morning. I was carrying my heavy backpack and my surfboard so it was very convenient and that’s the main reason to stay there. The room was clean and quiet. I’ll go back there again.

We needed the place as close as possible to the bus station. Our bus to Nicaragua was scheduled to leave at 6 am. The hostel is located across the street from the bus station. Perfect location.

The location isn’t great at night but that’s made clear up front. It’s ideal for an overnight stay if you’re travelling by bus the next day.
Great location for the bus terminal, which is why we chose it but it was much better than we expected - very impressed. Proving you don’t need to spend a fortune to get a good nights stay. Our room had everything we needed and the communal kitchen and lounge was ideal. Really liked the little roof balcony to relax with a beer at the end of a busy day.

Our room didn’t have a window, which made it quite stuffy.
Very handy for accessing the 7-10 bus station and cheap too. Flor was friendly and helpful! The room and communal area were both clean. A comfortable and convenient stay for one night. As stated in other reviews and by the hostel itself, the area isn’t great, but there are lots of Uber Eats options such that you wouldn’t need to leave the hostel.

Perfect located when traveling with main bus mepe, close by to Downtown, super clean room and very nice host. Comfortable beds, we had very spacey room, on upper floor we could chill on sofa at evening, make coffee, cook, store the food

The area is a bit run down but good for getting the bus early as just opposite the road
Really good location if you are getting a bus early from terminal 7-10. Good room. Able to check in early after our early flight

No hot water in the shower
A clean and comfortable place to stay right opposite the 7-10 bus terminal. This was good value, safe and well run by the manager and very convenient for travelling.

This is an extremely clean and well organised hostel dead opposite one of San Jose's main bus stations (with all the pluses and minuses that go with that). It's worth paying close attention the the video giving access instructions to the hostel that you should get a day before your stay!

Not the safest area to walk around.
Staff is helpful, it’s perfect if you are taking bus in the morning. Room was clean and spacious. There was free coffee in the morning.

The shower was a little too cool for me. The location has a lot of homelessness. A little scary to walk around at night alone.

There was noise from our rooms and our bed wasn't very comfortable.
It was a good value for money and the staff was friendly. Good for a one-night stay. It's also conveniently located near the station.

Area has lots of homeless people but that’s not the fault of the hostel and they are very honest about this when you book. Didn’t ever feel unsafe.
Perfect spot for one night between bus journeys and great value for money.

Furniture looks kind of old and used. Location doesn't look very nice but seemed safe. Lots of homeless people around.
We got a spacious room with a small balcony. Easy access via code and description to enter. Perfect if you have to catch a bus.
