Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe were underprepared for the 2-hour night hike. One flashlight died and one became quite weak. Be prepared with a good flashlight and a spare, as there are some small, very venomous snakes--we encountered 4.
A hidden gem! The location was exceptional--you are immersed in the forest. Knowledgable guides who truly care about the forest. Amazing food. Comfy, private, very clean bungalows.

United KingdomPerhaps let people know that the hikes are potentially rough, hilly and muddy. The night walk revealed lots of interesting frogs, but the day walk was a bit sparse on wildlife, which could have been the time of year. We loved it all though!
We loved the remoteness, and the cabin with it's sitting area and balcony. The wildlife around the lodge is great and it is a great place to escape and chill for a few days. It isn't luxury but the rooms are comfortable and the food is good. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The journey here is 40 minutes up a very rough road in Pedro's 4x4, but that added to the charm for us. Be prepared for muddy hikes and plenty of interesting insects and frogs around.

The lodges are great - comfortable beds, spacious, well spaced out around the forest, great hammocks, friendly atmosphere amongst staff and guests, great food and lounge area with areas to view wildlife. It was great to see lots of varieties of frogs, luckily a non venomous snake, spiders, a variety of birds and tapir tracks.

Everything you would ever want or need in a remote location such as this. Solar power, hot shower, exceptional freshly cooked meals, helpful staff, the list goes on. Animals everywhere, put the time in and you will find beautiful fauna. We stayed at 6 places in Costa Rica and this was by far the best. Can’t wait to come back!

Incredible stay at Yatama with such nice people doing everything so you have great time. Secluded in a primary rainforest, Yatama transports you in a different world so close to nature but yet with all comfort needed. Views from the cabins are unbelievable so you can spend hours looking for animals. Trails are well maintained and you can spot many animals in the day and at night (monkeys, toucans, tarentulas, frogs, snakes, etc.)., Special thanks to Jeremy and Luis, our guides in day and night walks, to Jennifer for such a good food. And of course to Pedro, the boss and owner of this special and unique place!

We had an incredible familly experience at Yatama, where we went with our 9 year old twins (both good hikers). Everything was perfect from the lodging in the midst of the privat reserve, right next to the nt parc, the food prepared fresh on site was equaly great and the guides (Pedro and Luis) were passionate and happy to share (night walk with both was incredible). We did several hikes on ourselves, (there are enough trails to occupy anybody for several days) in this beautiful, lush rainforest, saw plenty of animals. Our stay at Yatama was definitely one of our highlights in Costa rica.

Amazing place! The staff are brilliant You get a whole "house" to yourself with a balcony to watch the birds in.nearby trees. Perfect for escaping into nature, forget the car a couple of days, be amongst birds and frogs, enjoy the fresh food. Showers after a humid forest walk were good, with plenty hot water. Bugs and creepy crawlies were around but kept away from us! The drive up is an "adventure" ... you just need to take your time and have a good car! Allow at least 40 mins to get to the pick-up point from Horquetas. Take enough clothing for your stay - dirty, wet clothes won't dry in the forest during rainy season May to Nov. Be sure to buy a t-shirt as it also means a tree gets planted for you!

The property was very simple but it was everything we needed. The water pressure and temperature was good, the bed was comfortable, the food was good, the WiFi worked, the staff was friendly. The location was incredible. It really was a unique experience. The guided tours were really cool. We saw howler and spider monkeys, five different snakes, all sort of frogs, many birds. The guide was really knowledgeable and Pedro was super helpful. I would absolutely recommend staying here to someone.

The hosts are truly knowledgable and they contribute so much to wildlife conservation. Definitely take the tours. Enjoy being in the nature. And enjoy the presence of wonderful passionate nature lovers. The max capacity is about 10-14 people, so it never feels overly crowded. It is a cozy and intimate space. Delicious and wonderful food. This exceptional place was a brilliant experience. From parking in the designated location Pedro met us to travel the 8km journey along rough tracks to Yatama. The accommodation is beautifully simple, clean and comfortable, you feel immersed in the forest. Pedro, Jeremy and the rest of the team are kind, friendly and welcoming, we felt very at home. The food was lovely, great breakfast and dinner included, all fresh and tasty with the option to order lunch if you want it. The guided hikes are great with the privilege of massively knowledgeable guides, we learned so much exploring the rain forest with them, what you see can vary but remember it’s a wild place not a zoo! We saw a variety of frogs, crickets, birds and a couple of snakes and learned about the forest, plants and trees. I highly recommend a stay here if you like to get off the tourist trail and spend time in peaceful nature, this place is unique and a credit to Pedro and his team.
