There is no sound isolation at all. We were staying in the room next to the kitchen/dinning hall, so every morning we were woken up by people gathering to have breakfast or staff preparing it at about 7:30-8:00 (and we enjoy to sleep in a bit more). It felt like they are having breakfast in our room, we could hear not only the conversations loud and clear, but such minor noises as, for example, water/liquid pouring :D However, for this price range it was just a minor inconvenience next to all the advantages they offer, and if you ended up reading this review, probably you're also browsing budget options and are used to noisy hostels/dorms, or maybe you use earplugs. We really didn't care much and we still find this place the best in Mindelo for budget travelers, we are planning to stay here again. It's just something important to know if you're a light sleeper.

Everything was really nice: comfortable beds, good breakfast, friendly, helpful and English speaking staff. Location is good, you can easily reach beach and city center by walk, and also to find restaurants and grocery stores nearby. We didn't cook, but there is a possibility, the host kindly suggested us to use the kitchen if we need to. And the best part - very clean, hotel level private bathroom WITH HOT WATER in the shower! This is really important for me while traveling and I was surprised that Mindelo is relatively modern city (it's not some rural village), but you will not necessarily have hot water in your accomodation. So if that's important to you, you definitely need to check before hand; and here you definitely can have a nice, hot shower!

Simple but all the important things were there. Walkable from the centre and the ferry to Santo Antao. We left early in the morning to get the first ferry, but we got a simple take away breakfast so we could eat on the boat.

This is a basic hotel but it hasd a bedroom, bahroom and kitchen/living room. It is clean but basic. It is a little out of the centre of Midelo about 15 minute walk. The breakfast was good. I wqould say it is value for money. The staff are helpful and seem to be available all the time

The entrance door to the building was a bit difficult to open, however, I eventually figured out the trick to opening it smoothly so it was no big deal.

The breakfast was simple but delicious. The Cape Verdean coffee is very good. You can meet other travellers in the breakfast area. Everyone is very friendly. I enjoyed hearing the sounds from the military centre, I felt like it added to the charm.

The bed is not the most comfortable, but I would recommend at least a mattress protector, without air conditioning people can sweat more. Everything goes into the mattress, of course. The water pressure in the shower could be higher.

Accommodation with daily cleaning and breakfast. Yes, it is a simpler accommodation, but fine for longer stays, price very good. The location is quieter, further away from the centre but walkable or taxi. Near a supermarket. The lady is very friendly, nothing is a problem. If you are not demanding, don't need air conditioning, you can be happy here, I would have no problem to come back.

The location is not far away from the city center, but it's not the greatest if you are returning late at night because there are some military buildings nearby, not many people around, and a lot of stray dogs, so it may feel a bit unsafe, though we didn't have any issues.

The Basic hotel is everything but basic. We had the whole apartment for us with a living room, sleeping room, and a kitchen with a small patio in front of the apartment. The staff was nice and accommodating, and we even left most of our luggage in the hotel and went to Santo Antão for a few days. The breakfast was good, but it could start a little bit earlier in case you have an early flight or a ferry to catch.

We weren't sure if the neighborhood was safe in the evening/at night as there were bars on the windows all around and even barbed wire in some places. Probably the safest way to come here in the evenings and at night is by taxi, as the natives did. We didn't use a taxi and came on foot, but nothing bad happened - except that we had to walk around a bit because in one street homeless dogs were barking at us. However, we would probably take a taxi next time for more comfort. During the day, however, there was nothing to be afraid of.
