Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Netherlands- When you've made the booking and think you've settled on a price, you'll discover afterwards you have to pay additional charges for electricity and water. We don't like those surprises. - The pictures on the Booking.com page show several pictures of Blue Bay beach. It is true that Blue Bay is the nearest beach, but it should be emphasised a bit more promptly that this beach comes with substantial entry fees. - There is no water tap outside the apartment or even on the apartment grounds to wash your feet before entering the unit. This was a bit of a hassle, since we spend most days on beaches and came home sandy. - We travel with an autistic son and we therefore requested a late checkout since it would be quite stressful for him to spend several hours at the airport. We request this -when necessary- on all our trips and are -of course- willing to pay an extra fee. Sometimes there is no charge, sometimes an amount of about 20 USD is asked. We requested to stay in Blije Rust two more hours longer and explained the situation about our son. We got informed that a late checkout was only possible for the amount of 65 EUR, which is about the same we paid for a single night. The owner let us know that even though we only requested 2 hours extra, we would still have to pay the full amount they charge for late checkout. We found this a very high rate -the highest we've ever seen- and we didn't find the owner very considerate or flexible towards our personal situation. For the record: we really don't aim to get special treatment or anything. But we can continue traveling with our handicapped son and broaden his horizons because of the kindness, consideration and patience of people we meet all over the world. It is hard what we do, even though the rewards are immense. The late checkout request was handled purely from a business perspective and we really missed the human approach.
+ The apartment is very basic, so if you keep your expectations low, you're going to enjoy your stay. It felt like a safe and peaceful neighbourhood, and it has a code operated gate. + The pool is ok: nothing too fancy, but a good place to chill. - The apartment is situated in a suburban area where -with the exception of one food truck and Blue Bay resort- nothing is really at walking distance. So you're going need a car, even to do small groceries or go to a local restaurant. - The apartment is fully equipped, but some things are just a bit odd. The airconditioning units in the bedroom are placed above the headrest part of the bed. That means when the airconditioning is on -and trust us, it needs to be on with the average temperatures on Curaçao- it blows cold air in your face while you're trying to go to sleep. The kitchen doesn't have an exhauster so the only way to have some ventilation when cooking is by opening the door or put an electric fan next to you and both these options didn't prove to be very effective. - We stayed in the apartment for about two weeks and you have to keep the place clean yourself. So how do you do that when there is no mop or vacuum cleaner? We had to request a mop, which came two days later. A vacuum cleaner was not available, which was a pity since our autistic son is suffering from several inhalation allergies. Also, you're going to have to wash the blankets and bedsheets yourself, which doesn't really feel like the thing you want to do when you're on vacation. We could only communicate with the housekeeper through What's App, which made it very impersonal.
