Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe floors in the room were filthy upon arrival, half a rotten carrot was found under my bed. Also only 1 female shower on my floor had a basket for soaps etc, the showers could definitelt benefit from baskets/hooks. Other than this we really enjoyed our stay.
The staff were very nice and welcoming. The rooms were bright and spacious. We also loved playing pool downstairs.

EgyptThere are not toilets inside the rooms and this was not mentioned with the reservation ! I understand that it is a shared bathroom but it should be shared for every room not for the whole floor ! The showers are in another place apart from the toilet ! so you have to access each one separately. The receptionist of the night shift was rude and has zero communication skills ! he shouldn’t be working in tourism at all.
The location and the cleanliness. The receptionist of the morning shift was nice.

United StatesIt was hard to sleep with people being loud in the courtyard and upon late check ins, coming into the room and not being considerate of the other guests who are sleeping.
My only complaint was other customers not respecting quiet hour. Coming into the room very late, and being loud, turning lights on. Maybe being more clear about quiet hours and enforcing them when people are being loud after midnight.

BelarusIt was hot in the room, even at night. I was unlucky to stay with four English teenagers who don't know the meaning of the word cleanliness and tidiness (poor their families and maybe wives) . Maybe therefore I had not a nice experience.
The personnel is nice and ready to help. The place is good situated.

United StatesI paid for a room with a locker but had to change rooms and be without a locker/room for a day (from checkin to checkout, but inconvenient times) when I was made to check out due to Pfefferbett’s overbooking the room. I asked at the front desk, and apparently they do this very frequently, so if you have heavy things or valuables, wish to visit your room during the day, or don’t want to repack in the middle of your stay, don’t stay here. They said this is usual for hostels, but I have traveled in hostels extensively, and I’ve never had this occur—it’s possible it’s a Berlin thing but more likely that the person at the desk was mistaken, having only experienced this hostel. This was the only bad hostel experience I’ve ever had. I booked for five days exploring Berlin, and I was very excited to be in the same place for a little while, to unpack and not have to carry my things around. On day 3, was removed from my bed because they had overbooked and presumably lied to booking agencies about their availability to increase bookings. I had to repack and vacate. I had my work materials (laptop) with me, so I wanted to lock away my things until the 3 pm checkin (because even though many rooms are likely empty—we had three free beds in our “overbooked” room, they refused to let me move to my new room or at least leave my things on the locker when I was removed from my room in the morning). The only option they had for me was to leave my laptop in some sort of luggage room the staff has the keys to but anyone can ask to enter (to be entirely fair, it’s likely very safe—they have name cards on the items and accompany you. since the materials belonged to my office, I was being cautious). I wanted to cancel my booking and go to the hostel down the street but was told this was non refundable.
The staff is nice though they clearly have no agency for flexibility. the rooms are pretty—second floor has lovely arched brick ceiling and large windows, third floor has large windows and more light. The room was pretty clean—on the first day the shower smelled like piss (could’ve been ammonia for cleaning or one of the people in there already, though I was told the room was being cleaned until a few minutes before) and there were a couple too-light-to-be-mine hairs on my mattress cover (again, maybe from someone in the room) but other than that was absolutely fine. The bedding smelled clean and keycard locker is convenient. Location is perfect. There are many common spaces and people are friendly—the hostel seems to be popular with families with little kids. The breakfast seems to be very high quality with many options, and the hostel is close to some very nice food options. I found out on the last day that they offer a free city tour, which sounds perfect for solo travelers. they clean the communal bathrooms extremely frequently.

United StatesLarge groups of children hanging out in the hallways. It is too loud to sleep.
This hostel books very large groups of school aged children that run through the hallways and stairwells at all hours. The place is quiet until 8pm and gradually gets louder until you realize there are people hanging out in larger groups in the hallways at 1am. I asked for a refund and cancelled my second night. I’ve been staying backpacking for 20 days and this is the first time I’ve encountered such inconsiderate behavior.

KuwaitIts huge and its more of a hotel than a hostel. Indoor showers and bathroom were super small and there was no privacy as its a small room, so you would always wake someone up with the least noise. i found after asking that there are other bathrooms and showers on another floor when needed
great location with many cafes and restaurants near by, great staff who would recommend places to see and will keep your bag if you are early for check in. super clean

Sri LankaCommon area was pretty empty and there wasn't much of a chance to meet anyone new. The hostel wasn't organizing any events either. The tops of the lockers were very dusty.
Excellent location, just across the road from Senerfelderplatz underground station. I arrived at around 2am and staff were still around to give me my keys. I initially asked for a mixed dorm and I was given a room with 5 men. Since this was my first time staying in a hostel, I asked if I could be moved to a female-only dorm. The staff accommodated my request with no issues, although I have to say the facilities in the mixed dorm were slightly nicer. Toilets and showers were pretty clean. The beds were comfy too, although I wish there were two pillows instead of one. There are lockers in each room which opens and locks using your key card.
