Slow WiFi, unfriendly breakfast staff yelling at us in German

The common trend to not service the room without asking at reception. Have a card to ask for it to be serviced or not to hang on the door but raising the bar to be discouraging is all too common. Not really a fault but an all to frequent irritation.

The room, food, location. Its a nice relaxed base to explore the local area. The buffet meals have sufficient variety to give you choices. The room was clean and well stocked on arrival. Staff helpful and responsive. Have stayed before and would again.

I‘ve stayed here numerous times over the years, and the standard never slips ,it’s got a great location just outfoxed the main pedestrian zone but close enough to the railway station and the Schmalspurbahnen. I only did breakfast this time but there’s always a great selection of hot and cold food. Room was was clean and after walking around in the Harz all day the fact that the room had a bath was really appreciated.

No aircon but it’s okay to open the window as night time getting colder. The shower gel not fully refill, I found that it’s empty the next day morning.

Enjoy a great breakfast in a beautiful location. comfortable bed and pillows and blanket, the bathroom also comfortable. Everything looks new or after good repair.

CAUTION: Hot water was extremely hot and can burn. Takes awhile to reach cooler water.

Convenient location, helpful staff, great breakfast. Nice sauna and hot tub. Sauna is textile free.

A 5 mins walk from railway stn and steam railway and 5 mins walk to town centre. Staff were friendly and always helpful. Nice room with a comfy bed and a good spa area downstairs with a hot sauna and steam room and a fab jacuzzi to relax in after a long days walking 😆

It should be made sure that there are always enough towels in the spa area.

All facilities and all rooms were very clean, tidy and just like new. Very well managed hotel. The breakfast was fantastic, with a huge buffet and even lactose-free products.

The soundproofing of the building is not good. If you are unlucky enough to have noisy guests in the apartment above or on the same floor, it is impossible to get a peaceful night's sleep.

- Rooms are not fully sound proof, you can hear the neighbors if they open their doors, drag suitcases etc (this is only a little bit annoying, and not super distracting) - There was no electric kettle/ tea/coffee in the room. Also there were no toiletries like lotion or conditioner (of course there was liquid soap and shower gel in the bathroom) . Probably I could have asked for those in the reception but I didn't anyways as it was a very short stay.

- Great location: 6-10 mins to the main station or the city center by foot. - Rooms were clean and fresh with spacious closet, tv and mini fridge. - Breakfast was great with a large selection, variety of cheese, freshly made cheese and butter, bread, fruits, warm dishes, Salmon and also vegan/lactose free options. - The staff were hospitable. - The 24 hrs reception made it easy to check in even after midnight. - The hotel provided contact numbers for the local taxi companies when I was stranded in a nearby town. - They also provide guest cards with which busses in the Harz region are free and tourists get discounts at some places.

The bar was very poor. Despite a published menu on line, the only drink on offer was draft pilsener. They also published a list of cocktails but couldn't make any of them as they didn't have any of the ingredients. Worse was the fact that they allowed people to smoke in this bar and I thought the EU had banned smoking in public indoor spaces! I had to sit out in the lobby as the smoke gave me a headache. Were they, therefore, breaking the law? The decor of the bar was also totally unimaginative - plain and functional with no atmosphere whatsoever. The barman also kept slipping out and was not there when you were ready for another drink. A place to avoid.

The location. Breakfast was very good. Evening dinner was excellent: eat as much as you like buffet for €19.50.- very well prepared.

The hotel is a very convenient place to stay when visiting the Harz railway system since it is fairly close to both the station and town centre. Excellent breakfasts and very helpful staff.

This is a huge modern hotel close to the station in a side street. It does conferences and the like. None the worse for that!

Unfortunately it was 38 degrees Celsius outside and no air conditioning inside so the room got really warm.

Everything is good, the size of the room, the bathroom, the bed. Excellent breakfast, an abundance of choice, one of the best I have had in a hotel.
