How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The communal kitchen was not that clean and organised, a bit cramped in bad weather. It took a long time to prepare food for that reason. They could possibly label the shelves to assist people in putting things away. One group used all the pans at once & served their food in them. a hazard of hostel living.
It's basic but straight forward. If you arrive early you can help yourself to a hot drink in the communal kitchen. Reasonable sized room (for 4) & bathroom. The kids loved the trampoline. If the weather (wind & rain) were better the outdoor seating would be nice. I recommend a family trip to Egeskov Slot, a nearby Castle with lots of kid-friendly activities (requires a car).

Car park belonging to the hostel is limited in size. Luckily the road near the hostel has no parking restrictions.
Great location for the centre of Svendborg and the Harbour. Reasonable price for a room with own bathroom.

Basic well-managed hostel. Located on the edge of the old town, 20 minutes walking distance from train station and harbour. Friendly staff. Clean. Refrigerator, coffee-maker and water kettle in kitchen.

We had to look for alternative parking as there were not enough parking spaces , luckily the paid parking wasn't expensive and was nearby. The room was in the groundfloor so the smell of the drainage was strong. The fire alarm of our room woked us up in the middle of the night ( start beeping without aparent reason) so we had to open the window a bit because it felt quite hot.
Good location for us since we were going to the sports center (4min by car). Clean place, clean bed linen and towels. We arrived when the reception was closed but they left the key for us and communicated it before hand.

Prices are a bit high for the bunkbed-style rooms but it's central, clean and convenient .
Helpful and friendly staff. Super fun with the fleet of rentable pupmaxi scooters!

There was quite a bit of noise from the street right outside the window. Bed linens were included, but you have to make and unmake the bed yourself. The room was pretty basic. The price we paid was on a hotel level, but what we got was much more of a basic hostel experience.
Central location, within walking distance of stores and restaurants. Free parking on the back. The shared kitchen downstairs was very large, with plenty of fridges. The private bathroom was quite clean and comfortable, as was the room.

VERY nice place! Great breakfast and homemade ginger shot :) There is also a place to prepare your own meals or just to talk with friends. A city centre is nearby, there is also a nice antique shop just across the street.

Considering the price and the facilities provided I find it very hard to think of anything that was lacking.
DanHostel Svendborg is a hostel within walking distance of the centre of Svendborg. The hostel has good parking facilities, a well tended garden at the rear of the building where guests can sit and relax. The hostel also has a communal kitchen attached to the garden area where guests can prepare their own food if they wish. The guest rooms, with shower and toilet facilities, are quite small but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is an optional extra which we found to be excellent. All the staff we talked to were friendly and very helpful when it came to providing information about things to see in Svendborg. A++++
