Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

North MacedoniaThe room was really tiny for six people.
The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Also the location was great, no need of public transport, everything could be reached on foot or with bike.

FranceEverything is extra, and not cheap, from the most obvious (bike rental) to the most surprising (pool tables, petanque). Overall, it felt like they are trying to make the most money out of guests, without considering that most are families or budget travellers. This said, Copenhagen is an expensive place, so tariffs charged by the hotel were mostly in line with outside prices, but then, why go to a youth hostel ? Copenhagen is a nice city but nothing outstanding, so not sure I'd come back, for the price we paid, but this has nothing to do with Generator hostel, this is a more general remark. Main downside of the hostel is lack of kitchen facility, but I have the impression this is always the case in generators hostels.
Within the "Generator" chain of hotels, and within the youth hostel category, this is one of the best hostels we've been. Our private room was not too small, good beds, lighting was good, large private bathroom, safe in the room (very appreciated !). This hostel has a huge common space with nice facilities : lockers for luggage storage, dinning space, bar, large outdoor sunny terrace, petanque facility, pool tables, multiple shuffleboards, bike renting, underground parking with direct access. Location is perfect, a few minutes away from city center, royal palace, canals, restaurants and bars, etc. A supermarket just in front of the hostel is very convenient.

NetherlandsBar floors were sticky each morning, could be cleaner. The hallway on my level (L5) smelled bad and needs a thorough clean.
Location is outstanding. Also has a fun bar with pétanque & shuffleboard which is lively! Overall it's clean and met my expectations.

GermanyHard time if you’re a solo traveler, this isn’t the most social hostel, more of a hotel atmosphere. The windows don’t open all the way and it gets very hot in the rooms. Breakfast is overpriced for what it is
The hostel is in a nice area, close to public transport, and Rosenborg Castle is only a short walk away. The staff is very friendly and helpful!

AustriaStayed in a dorm for 8, and it had its own bathroom (not shared with other people) + 2 showers and an extra sink. There's a really big storage box under the bed, but you need your own lock (or you can get it from the reception but have to pay for it). In the "shared space" there are a lot of games like shuffle board, pool/billiards, darts, etc

United KingdomThe only real minus was the breakfast buffet that was a little too mean when it comes to quality, especially the super-cheap muesli and cereal. Also the extract fans from toilet and shower seemed not to work.
The rooms were simple, but new and the beds were very comfortable. Common facilities were excellent and they make a mean Flat White coffee. The location couldn't be better as we walked to everything we wanted to see and do.

GermanyDon't stay at the street side: It is incredibly loud, the whole night and already at six in the morning. Up from the third floor it is incredibly hot on the street side rooms.
The staff is very friendly & international. The guy at the bar speaks & understands probably every language in the world. ;-) The bar is cool.

United StatesThe elevator was terribly slow. The storage under the bed was tricky to get in and out.
Room was larger than expected. Staff was nice and helpful. It was nice that there was a box like thing under the bed for luggage. Lots of windows. Would be nice if there was black out curtains and a fan.

United StatesIf we have to choose something, I know there is nothing to be done about the size and availability of the elevators but as having some mobility issues this was something that wasn't always great for us, personally.
Location! The sharing/common areas! The knowledge and help from the staff! The discount tickets and coupons! Safe in the room! The sound proof windows when closed!

PolandIt was very stuffy in the room despite the open windows, and I also don't quite understand the idea of a sink in the middle of the room instead of in one of the bathrooms, which made it virtually impossible to use it quietly while other people were sleeping.
The hostel is located in the very center of the city, super location for those who want to explore the city in a few days. Nearby what you need: stores, public transportation, etc. The hostel itself maintained in good condition.

Czech RepublicThere were issues with the shower overflowing but they were resolved pretty soon, other than that can't complain, everything was as expected.
Perfect location, ideal for solo travelers, especially if you're going from the airport (20 mins by metro M2)! The beds were comfortable, bathroom and shower clean. There's an option for self check-in and a great café with terraces etc downstairs as well.
