How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The tv barely worked and my room had no window at all. Which was okay for a short stay.
Gracias a Luis, Sandy y Darwin! The staff is friendly and the location is great (although you shouldn't be out alone by night). Laundry service was quick and very affordable. Great value.

The builder above us started work at 7am.
Nice comfy bed. Good shower and very clean room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to old town and local restaurants. Good breakfast and fantastic view.

No coat hangers in the wardrobe, it was a very tight fit around the bed.
The room was small, but comfortable and the temperature was pleasant. The bed was comfortable and had night stands on either side. The shower was at least warm-hot, sometimes the pressure was low. Laundry service was fairly priced and a huge plus. It was ready the afternoon of the same day . I believe it is done in-house, not sent out. Breakfast is included and served on the top floor with a view of the mountains and city. Staff was very good and helpful. Having Google Translate helps

The room was small like a box room. The window was on the inside rather than on the outside of the hotel.
The location is perfect for those who enjoy exploring places on foot. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was sufficient to start a day.

This is very far from the airport, but is advertised as close. Also there are a huge amount of stairs & no elevator!
It's a very charming old Spanish style hotel. The people are great!

The hotel was a bit noisy. You could hear a lot from other rooms. That was a bit of a tricky one if you would like some sleep.
Very nice staff and they were very friendly. The location is very good and the breakfast (with a view) was very nice.

One of the ceilings going up to the cafeteria was very low and my partner banged his head. Not the fault of the hotel but maybe a sign to warn people might be a good idea!
We stayed here for one night before our trip to Mindo. A member of staff came out to greet us and helped with the bags when we arrived. We were given a restaurant recommendation and told to enjoy Netflix (which we did!). The bed was super comfy and the water in the shower was very hot. Breakfast was good. The hotel appeared to have an affiliation with Ecuador hop, which would be very useful for guests staying here longer than one night.

It was only 60 steps from the street to the room… and another 47 to breakfast! There was plenty of friendly help with the suitcases on arrival and exit. Truly a wonderful cardiac experience.

There were lots of stairs. Restaurant on top floor. Hotel is on a virtual street up 3 flights of outdoor stairs.

There’s no shelves, no hangers for the clothes.Drainage in the shower was slow, door could be cleaner.very hard surface of bed.

advertises as a restaurant but every night we went there it was completely dark and no one eating there

The hotel adds taxes to what Booking.com charged you if you use credit card so you end up paying more than what they tell you on screen. The individual rooms are a little too small. I didn’t like the environmental perfume they spread in the common areas.
The location is very good in front of a nice park and with many public transport options. The internet works fine. The breakfasts is good. The staff is friendly and always willing to help and they actually satisfy your requests. The hot water in the shower is great after being in the cold outside. They have a nice fountain.

could not make the hot water work as much as I tried. I followed their directions but the knob for the hot water would not budge.
