Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyBeautiful lodge in a great location on the Quilotoa Loop. The owners put a lot emphasis on sustainable materials and supporting the local community. The food, including vegetarian and vegan options, is delicious and the spa area fantastic after a long, cold day of hiking.

CanadaEverything about this place was exceptional. The jacuzzi was such a treat after a long day of hiking. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable beds, great bathrooms. The food was possibly the best we've had in Ecuador, simply delicious. The bagged lunch was huge and yummy, sandwiches from home cooked bread, fresh baked cookies and other treats. Great location for the quilatoa trail. Hot water in the shower. Beautiful flowers and birds by our terrace. Lovely shared space as well. Tea, coffee and water provided. A bar if one desires.

This was a very good place to relax for a bit. I liked that they had free yoga classes. The view is amazing, nice short and long hikes in the neighbourhood.

CanadaIt’s just too fancy. If you are looking for a cultural experience I would stay at a local place. You are sitting in the jacuzzi and looking at farmers! Yoga! Sauna! It doesn’t give the local lifestyle.

United KingdomCompared to other hostels on the loop, this hostel is overpriced and falls short on many things. Dinner and Breakfast is served as family style so it’s a big pot in the middle, but it meant some people on the table got a lot more than others! Also breakfast is only served at 8am so if you want to get going early you can’t… there’s not even coffee out until 8! The lodge had too many guests for the amount of staff., you all have to check out at the same time so there is a really long queue. also the sauna and steam room was not hot so couldn’t be used. the food was nice but not as nice as other similar hostels on the loop. The rooms also felt very small and some didn’t have windows.

DenmarkThe dinner were a little disappointing, as we stayed there for 2 days, and had almost the same both nights. a little tasteless as well - but that's the only thing we can point out.
Everything about the lodge were perfect! the location were magical, and the staff took really good care of us! we were upgraded to a small cabin, without being charged extra - nice surprise!

United KingdomAlthough dinner was said to be at 7pm, it wasn’t served until gone 7.30 and - when you’ve been hiking all day - that’s a long time to wait! We also asked for a packed lunch for the next day. In the morning, we had to wait 40 minutes from the time they said it would be ready!! It was also way overpriced for what we received - another hostel gave us more food and charged us half the price!
The hostel was in a fantastic location with amazing views and brilliant facilities. After a long day of hiking, the spa was enthusiastically enjoyed! The beds were really comfortable and, overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

United KingdomIt was a little more rustic than I was expecting. E.g. We had no water one evening. I wasn’t really a fan of the compost toilets, they smelled quite a bit so you had to either keep a window open which makes the room freezing, or deal with the smell. I do appreciate their efforts to be low impact/ eco-friendly, I just think the price is a little steep for the comfort level. You must pay cash only, or PayPal +6% charge… we were a bit disappointed that nobody told us this until checkout so we were hit with a 6% fee and a slightly stressful few minutes trying to logon to PayPal before getting our taxi.
Charming little lodge with very friendly atmosphere Breakfast and dinner were served family style and the food was excellent They provide tons of information about hiking routes and transportation which is really helpful

Australia. Hot chocolate and mulled wine is available but incredibly overpriced, $5 each. Packed lunch is also quite basic and poor value for $6.50. Also some things have changed from started on the website since the pandemic: - Jacuzzi/sauna is no longer free, $5 per person for 1 hour - no yoga classes (there is a space to do it yourself) - there is no longer a resident llama :'(
Good social vibe, high quality facilities including spa, helpful staff

United KingdomThe packed lunch is a rip off- at $6.50 you get 1 sad looking sandwich, with no salad as promised, no chocolate, no drink included one piece of fruit and 2 boiled sweets, 3 small biscuits. You get much better box lunches for less than half the price from other hostels on the trail. The beds are rickety/ noisy The place is really expansive compared to what else is on offer on the trail, and I just don't think it was value for money at all. It was worth $50/ night not the $90 we paid, unfortunately.
The location was good- great views The staff were all friendly and informative The lodges were quite romantic, with a log burner in the rooms The food provided on site was very good and plentiful. A good common area which was very comfortable The facilities generally seemed very well maintained Overall, it is a really pleasant place to stay, but we were expecting so much more.

IsraelThe hot water ran out in the shower at 8:30 pm, after a day of hiking this is the last thing you want! The hostel offers a hot tub, but the price is $ 5 per person, a bit sad just that they didn't write that before.
The host Giovanni was lovely, helped us with information about the route of the lagoon. There is an option for a private room with a double bed or a bunk bed, the beds were comfortable and were warm and cozy at night. The hostel offers dinner and breakfast, which were nice and tasty.. Plus there is a rest room with books and board games, really nice.
